Aurélia

My heart races a little as I open my eyes. Today, we are celebrating my birthday which was a few days ago. A smile is plastered on my face as I get up. I know I know, most people with bad childhoods hate their birthday because their parents didn't care or something, but that never stopped me for having a good birthday.

Whether I bought myself a cake and celebrated with just my siblings after my mom or dad went to sleep, there was always something special, something to be happy for.

Just because Silas isn't in bed, or that fact that I hear Liyahs loud excited yells of order downstairs, I have a feeling they didn't forget what today is.

I finish brushing my teeth, put on my best 'normal' face and exit my room. As soon as I close the door, I hear the scrambling of feet against the wooden kitchen floor.

I smile shaking my head as I walk down the stairs. I wonder what will happen when I ever the kitchen.. "surprise!" People jump out of every spot imaginable, of course Liyah's voice is the loudest.

"Goodness," Camilla is pulled up by Landon. I didn't expect her to be jumping up at 7 months pregnant anyways.

"Happy birthday girl," Liyah pulls me in for a tight hug. "Thank you, this was very nice of you guys to do for me ever though I could hear you from upstairs." I chuckle.

"Well damn. It's not my fault though I was trying to make sure these idiots hid in a spot that was actually gonna make sure you couldn't see them." She gives a little side eye to Silas and all the boys.

"Happy birthday Amore Mia," Silas grabs my hands. "Thank you baby," I smile as he pulls me into a kiss. As we break apart, he lowers his head to whisper something.

"All these people are here now, but the real party will begin tonight when we're alone," he smirks at me as he backs up. My cheeks heat up as I watch the shirtless man stare at me with that cheeky expression.

"Don't forget to make about your cake!" Camilla says as she slowly waddles toward me with the cake. "You know I would never," I tell her.

"Joyeux anniversaire, joyeux anniversaire, joyeux anniversaire Aurélia, joyeux anniversaire!" Everyone sings to me in French. Somehow, Camilla managed to teach them very well.

I blow out my big '22' candles. I wish to be this happy forever. I think to myself. "Oh, I almost forgot this," Camilla grabs a letter out of her purse.

"What's this?" I say confused on who'd write to me. "It's from you, 10 years ago. You asked me to keep it for you when we had to move into dads." She reminds me.

Oh yeah, I gave it to her so I wouldn't open it early. "Thanks, I read it later." I take it and tuck it away. I really don't know what could be in there, so it's safest to read it alone.

"Aurélia, get ready to be very amazed." Camilla smiles at me. "Why.." I ask her suspiciously.

"What was your biggest dream for your birthday as a kid?" She asks excitedly. I think about it for a minute. "To go swimming on my birthday." I remember.

I never could as a kid, one because my birthday's in October, 2 because who in my life cared enough to take me on my birthday. Maybe my grandma, but I could never visit France around then because of money reasons.
