With the Fairy Night Awards nearing its conclusion and the Padauk Mini Awards beginning judging, it's time for a new contest! Welcome to the Candlelight Awards. I hope you enjoy your stay!
Read the rules before asking questions. I had a lot of people asking me questions like "How many categories can I submit to?" and "Can my book be ongoing?" and other questions, but these questions are answered in the rules. I am going to tell you to "read the rules" if you ask a question like that.
I have no problem clarifying if you're confused or if you have a question about something not in the rules, but please don't ask things like "What are payments?" "What's the form?" "Can my book be ongoing?" and other things like that. Those questions will be answered here.
Read all the rules if you want a warm chocolate chip cookie.
For additional updates about this contest, I have a Discord where I keep everyone updated. You can also share your work with fellow writers there. Link in the inline comment here --->
You can also email me at kookieisaking@gmail.com for any inquiries, though please keep the emails serious, and please include your Wattpad username so I know who I'm talking to.
Info:
- I am the only judge. The goal of this awards is to be as accessible as possible, therefore there will be minimal payments. If I include other judges, the payments would go up.
- I don't care how new or old your story is. It could have been posted five years ago or five minutes ago and I'd still accept it.
- This is going to be my final contest for the summer. I likely will not have another big contest until 2025 alongside some mini ones in fall, therefore this is the last opportunity for a while.
- Both ongoing and completed stories are accepted.
- Please refrain from asking me about results and when judging starts—I am judging by myself, so results may take time, but don't worry, I will inform you when judging begins.
- I run a review and interview shop, but while participating in this contest, you cannot sign up for either of them. Anyone who is a past participant of those shops or are waiting for their review/interview can still sign up for this contest.
- I don't give harsh feedback. I give fair and honest feedback, so it may sting, but I'm not going to use words like "ugly" or "cringe" or other harsh terms. The goal is to help you, not hurt you. Look at my Fairy Night Awards for examples of how I judge.
- Most types of stories are accepted such as mature stories, lgbtq+ stories, ships, anthologies, fanfics of any fandom, original stories, stories inspired by pre-existing media (i.e., a comic book or movie), crossovers, etc. I have a small restrictions list. As long as your story doesn't fall under any of the restrictions, you can submit it.
- With that being said, please read the categories chapter so you better know where to submit your story.
Rules:
- Doing this first since this is the most-broken rule: you can submit up to four times, but with different books in different categories. You cannot submit the same book twice. No exceptions. So if you have one book, you can only submit once.
- You can call me Raven, Rave, Jiminbiasnim, Ravendipity, author, punk little b*tch, fire hydrant looking a$$ (I'm ginger), strawberry-haired woman, or whatever casual name you want, but please do not call me the sweet names like dear or sweetheart. They make me uncomfortable.
