Wiping her hands on her beautiful emerald dress that screams queen, she secured her black cloak decorated with flower designs in gold as her favourite fan hang on her wrist like a sword. Which makes sense as Penelope used it as a weapon - mainly to hit in her words 'stupid idiots'.
Sitting in her reception area Penelope sat at her piano, the piano was black with golden flowers accenting it, while the keys where the usual black and white and the instrument itself the same as any other Penelope prefers this piano to any other.
"Mademoiselle Dubois do you have the sheets?" There was sheets of names of everyone staying, what room they where in and what stall to put their horses as well. Each family staying also had their own sheet with information, a timetable and the menu.
"Yes Penelope. The royals have the cottages we don't usually use by the lake right?" She checked.
"Yes. I will personally escort them. Tell our guests to put in requests to train before the competition they must come and talk to me between 7 and 10, I shall be down here."
"Yes Penelope." Mademoiselle said before walking off with the confidence only she carries to go tell maids whichever jobs she assigns them.
"Should any royal be here when I am not ask them please to wait in the drawing room." Penelope yells as Mademoiselle Dubois simply nods and walks on.
In order to chase the doubts and worries away Penelope starts to play, she plays a tune she has had in her mind for a long time. She begins to sing too.(SONG AT TOP OF THE CHAPTER - ALSO EDITED LYRICS SLIGHTLY BECAUSE THIS IS 1810'S)
You booked the night boat for a reason
So you could sit there in this hurt
Bustling crowds or silent sleepers
You're not sure which is worse
Because I dropped your hand while dancing
Left you out there standing
Crestfallen on the landing
Champagne problems
Your mom's ring in your pocket
My picture in your locket
Your heart was glass, I dropped it
Champagne problems
You told your family for a reason
You couldn't keep it in
Your sister splashed out on the bottle
Now no one's celebrating
Dom Pérignon, you brought it
No crowd of friends applauded
Your hometown skeptics called it
Champagne problems
You had a speech, you're speechless
Love slipped beyond your reaches
And I couldn't give a reason
Champagne problems
Your Midas touch on the carriage doorNovember flush and your flannel cure
"This place was once a madhouse"
I made a joke, "Well, it's made for me"
How evergreen, our group of friends
Don't think we'll say that word again
And soon they'll have the nerve to deck the halls
That we once walked through
One for the money, two for the show
I never was ready, so I watch you go
Sometimes you just don't know the answer
'Til someone's on their knees and asks you
"She would've made such a lovely bride
What a shame she's fucked in the head," they said
But you'll find the real thing instead
She'll patch up your tapestry that I shred
And hold your hand while dancing
Never leave you standing
Crestfallen on the landing
With champagne problems
Your mom's ring in your pocket
Her picture in your locket
You won't remember all my
Champagne problems
You won't remember all my
Champagne problems
As she finished up and looked she saw a small crowd. In it she saw current friends like Dowager Lady Thomas and old friends like Lady Danbury.
"Bonjour mes invités. Veuillez faire la queue ici pour vous inscrire. Vous recevrez un dépliant avec toutes les informations dont vous avez besoin comme le menu, où loger vos chevaux et les horaires.
Hello my guests. Please queue here to register. You will receive a leaflet with all the information you need such as the menu, where to house your horses and schedules." Penelope said clear as day. She sounded like a local in both languages.
"English to the right. Français à gauche. Others down the middle.
Il y a des panneaux sur chaque escalier, couloir, à l'extérieur de chaque pièce et il y a des panneaux à l'extérieur, veuillez les suivre.
There are signs on every staircase, hallway, outside every room and there are signs outside, please follow them.
Au revoir pour le moment. Goodbye for now." Quickly the queues dispersed as they made their way to their rooms.
Every so often someone would appear to ask a question, sign in or go to their horses.
After a long while of quiet, still in her dress she made her way to the stables where she quickly tacked up Belle. Belle wore a emerald green saddle pad, black saddle, black bridle with emerald stones to decorate the bridle and gold floers accenting the tack once more.
She galloped with Belle as they made their way back to the mansion. There was a show jumping course that visitors could easily see as they pull up to the mansion, right next to the drive.
This way if anyone needed to speak to her they could find her. She was right there, losing herself in the feeling of flying over jumps when she heard clapping, with a jerk of the reigns she quickly stopped Belle and turned to see Queen Charlotte and the Brigerton's. Queen Charlotte was the one to clap. Followed by Lady Danbury who had appeared seemingly from thin air.
"Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, Lord Brigerton, Lady Brigerton, Lady Dowager Brigerton, Misses Brigerton, Misters Brigerton. Forgive me, I did not expect your presence while I was exercising, La beauté de la nature.
She often gets, comment le dis-le, excited or nervous when there are so many new arrivals.
"No worries Lady Normandy. Thank you for your hospitality."
"Your welcome Queen Charlotte, thank you for coming, if you all head inside to the reception Madame Dubois shall be able to give you your room keys, timetables and other information. I shall see you all tonight at the ball and banquet."A/N: Sorry for not updating in ages but my computer is finally fixed so I can update regularly.
