As the ivy was raised and the silver lining of the ballroom glittered Penelope couldn't help but admire.
She stood there in the dress worthy of a queen beneath the grand arch of the entrance, candle-chandeliers shone light upon the dancing floor as the stars seemed to light up simply to glow for her. The sun behind her as she descended, once upon a time she would have tripped and stumbled, fallen over her own feet as her head swarmed with negative thoughts.
Now like the sun itself, ever graceful and beautiful she descended upon her people like a swan returning home to their lake. She stepped delicately and precisely like each step was a move in her game of chess, a game she is winning.
Once down in the crowd they parted like the red sea, bowing as she made her way to the royal lookout she had made just for this occasion.
Her arrival warranted a flurry of thanks.
She stepped up to where her and the Queen's thrones were, a little higher than other royals.
"My queen," she curtsied.
The queen rose and curtsied back," Princess, you have the honour," she whispered the last part.
"Attention guests." All talk stopped in favour of her demanding presence. "I welcome you to my home and the European games. Now in case by some miracle you are unaware of the figures around me let me introduce you.
King of Albania, Agron
Princess of Greece, Tess
Prince of Prussia, Fredrich
Prince of Greece, Poseidon
Princess of Spain, Isabella," she listed all the royals behind her one by one until she reached the last two.
"Queen of the United Kingdom, Charlotte.
Finally the queen of this country, Mary.
I welcome you to eat, drink and enjoy yourselves this merry night ahead of the games."
With that the people below began to socialise as she sat as cold as stone on her throne.
