"I'm looking forward to see Bonnie and Clyde again!" I grinned as we drove through the nightly city towards Dante's home.
"You're looking forward to see Bonnie the Beast?" Nates voice sounded from the seat behind me, full of disbelieve.
"That's crazy," Ben added from the driver's side without taking his eyes from the road, "Last time I met Dante's cat, she scratched my arm bloody."
"Put a sock on it!" Dante huffed, who sat diagonally behind me with his arm stretched out over the backrest, "She's just a misunderstood romantic, okay? A clumsy little furball that scratches and bites, because it's difficult for her to express the affection that her gigantic cat heart contains."
I frowned.
"Are you... still talking about your cat?" I wondered.
The chortle sounded behind me that Nate always made when he couldn't hold back his laughter.
Cautiously, I peered over my shoulder to make sure that I didn't upset Dante with my comment.
His eyes met mine. The little smirk in the corner of his mouth showed me he wasn't.
"Getting cheeky gets you nowhere, kitten." His voice was calm.
I felt Nate's breath against my ear as he leaned forwards.
"It gets you everywhere," he whispered as if he was sharing a secret, sending wholly shivers down my spine.
"First, I'm not a misunderstood romantic," Dante explained calmly, "When I hurt others it's on purpose and purely for my entertainment. Or pleasure."
I gulped, when our eyes met in the rearview mirror.
"Secondly, I'm not a furball - only thanks to my razor, to be fair. But my girlfriend will know best how my skin feels like, I guess."
My heart beat faster at the address.
"You're not a furball," I confirmed, "Just a bit scratchy sometimes," I added with a small smirk, then quickly bit my lip.
"Bold," I heard Nate chuckle.
"Someone's getting their ass spanked tonight," Dante informed me with a devilishly sweet smile.
Immediately, I fell silent and heat crept along my neck.
"I'd like to see that," Ben murmured next to me.
My head turned to him in surprise. He side-eyed me, before looking back at the road ahead.
"I-" I turned to Nate, putting on an outraged face, even though the excitement was bubbling inside me, "What do you have to say to that?" I asked him since I believed him to be my ally in here.
Relaxing back into his seat, he watched me with a lazy smirk.
"Teaching our girlfriend a little lesson or two would do no harm, would it?" He explained.
