I sit on the couch in the back room of the store, facing the open front door so that nothing is missed, keep minimum movement to avoid sweating.
I have always been thinking about the issue of people studying foreign language. Since somehow I started this line of pursuit from early age, and Providence led me so far into situation of where I am now.
Now I came to know, that foreign language study is no different from any other material study. That is, you are facing a total new images or notions, they appear in your mind and, coming the tedious but important step that everyone call this ---- work, which is connect these imags or notions to a familiar, established setting in your mind.
This last step, some people can perform better than others, which give them an edge to stand out.
Take example of learning a new phrase in French. This new phrase is easy to be remembered with alphabet composition. But to put it into a previously formed life scenario, will need us realy focus on this picture in our mind. No small amount of effort if people are distracted or lacking categorically interest on learning the language.
This connection has to be especially fluid, because language is serving to transmitting a meaning in nanoseconds. Thus explains the native speaker has no sign of stutter but a leaner has to pronounce like a toddler, since native speakers have already made countless efforts throughout their earlier life to-date.
This extra requirement of instant blurting out the connected formations is distinguished with other fields of knowledges, which can allow some length of thinking process.
Therefore, real-time response when applying this knowledge is essential.
