Blood of Panem: The 102nd Hunger Games

Chapter 1 - Reaping Day

I hate my life sometimes, it was midnight, and I had just finished this stupid assignment for Botany about all the types of different Oaks in Panem, it was painful, but I managed to finish it, there are thousands of them! I turned off the lamp and jumped into bed falling asleep immediately, I would have to pass this in before the reaping tomorrow.

It felt like only minutes when my older brother Ellis decided to wake me up.

"WAKE UP!!!" He said dragging me out of bed
"OW! I'M UP ASSHOLE!!" I yelled at him
"HURRY UP! GET DRESSED! IT'S REAPING DAY!" He screamed, I just now noticed that he is already dressed for the reaping
"Fine... Get out then, plus reaping doesn't start until 11:00 AM" I said
"You're right it's 7 AM and there's no school today, but still! And do what if I leave?" He asked puzzled
"Do I look like I give a fucking damn, go make breakfast, wake up, the others, make out with Fawn, whatever as long as you leave," I said, and he left the room, I got up and walked over to the bathroom to shower after I finished showering, I went back to my room and got dressed, my family struggles with money, but water and electricity bills are hardly a problem because of how cheap they are here in 10.

I grab the outfit I always wear to the reaping, a white T-shirt, White Pants, White Jacket, White Socks, and White Shoes, with orange trims because that is our district color, the shirt having an orange stripe in the middle, Ellis keeps calling it "The Rat Suit" but I don't care, plus he bought it for me! 

I walk downstairs dressed and find no one else down there! Seriously why Ellis!? I grab some bread and eat it, it was the bread that Avis and Stephen loved so much before they were killed last year, I finish my bread and hear Ellis and Fawn walk downstairs.

Ellis had brown hair and gray eyes same as mine, in fact, most of this family had dark brown hair and gray eyes,  Ellis was wearing an Orange Suit, and Fawn had red hair, dark blue eyes, and was wearing an old orange dress.

"Where's everyone else?" I asked Ellis and his fiance, yes, Ellis proposed, they had dated since their first reaping and now when he was 23 was getting married in 4 months, don't ask me where got the money to buy a ring, according to him it was like 50 Panemian Dollars, which was quite a lot for our family.

 "Sally is scared she's going to get reaped like... Avis..." I could tell Ellis didn't want to say Avis' name
"I mean Avis was Sally's twin... Of course, she would be sad... and scared" Fawn said
"That's true, Stephen did die as well last year... It's like our family has been rigged to be reaped ever since the 100th," I said
"Yeah, did our family rob the Capitol??" My cousin Nadja says entering the room, Nadja has blonde hair and brown eyes, and she is wearing a black dress with orange trims just like mine, she is also 2 years younger than me, being 15.

"Mornin' Nad," I said
"Mornin' guys!" She said cheerfully, I went back upstairs to grab my assignment and went to school to pass it in.

I entered my school, which was Holstein High School, I entered the botany class and passed in the paper to our Teacher Miss Sparrow Lowell, as I left the school, I just so happened to run into the worst part of this district, Marany Suzuki.

"Heyy Dally Wanna go back to my place for some 'fun'" She said, I held my hand on my forehead, I was not in the mood for Marany's advances today, I can't do shit to her because she's the mayor's daughter
"Marany, go away! I told you many times! I told you this after the 100th Hunger Games, I don't want to be with a spoiled, arrogant, inconsiderate girl!!" I yelled running back to my house, not even turning back to look at her, she yelled that I was going to regret it, but I didn't believe her.

"You look like you ran a marathon, what happened?" Sally asked as entered, Sally was 13, and she was twins with Avis, identical twins to be exact, so the same look as Avis' she was wearing a red-orange dress, and we all headed to the reaping, but Ellis and Fawn were luckily just going to watch the reaping. 

I stood in the reaping enclosure, and Marany was smiling like a devil, I could tell she did something bad, I thought if she rigged the reaping, but I brushed that thought off as she isn't that cruel, as Hickory Quell (Victor of the 101st) entered and made his speech, he reached in and grabbed a name from the female reaping bowl.

"Nadja Bullock" Hickory announced, my eyes widened with the fact Nadja got "fairly" reaped, she walked to the platform bravely, I just hoped that she could make it back home, but at least I wasn't reaped
"Dallas Carson" Hickory reads the male tribute's name, my soul seemed to leave my body, for a second, before snapping back into reality, and walking to the stand, as I was walking I heard someone whisper
"Told you you were going to regret it..." It was Marany, I turned in her direction in the reaping enclosure, and she blew a kiss in my direction, smiling while doing so, I was a very calm person and this was no exception, I knew there was nothing I could do about so I sucked it up and walked to the platform, I shook hands with Nadja and walked into the Hall of Justice.

My family said goodbye to me, and my best friends Antonio Harewall and Walker Dickinson asked me why my family got reaped twice in two years, I explained that Marany had something to do with it, and they looked like they were going to beat her up so I told them that I would handle it on my own if I get back, but if I didn't go home, they were allowed to beat her for rigging the reaping.

I entered the train with my cousin and was sent off to the Capitol, off to certain doom.
