The meeting

      As I stumbled upon the Alexandria Safe-Zone, the high walls and guarded gates offered a glimmer of hope in this otherwise bleak world. My heart pounded with a mixture of exhaustion and anticipation as I approached, hoping to find refuge among these survivors.

         The guards eyed me warily as I approached, hands hovering over their weapons. "Who goes there?" one of them called out, his voice gruff with suspicion.

        "I come in peace," I replied, raising my hands in a gesture of surrender. "My name is Alex. I've been traveling alone for weeks."
