The sand shifts beneath my feet
getting stuck in between
the water laps at my feet
washing them clean.

The sun sets on the horizon
looking melancholy
and I wonder how I would feel
if you were here with me.

The memories we've shared
The places we've gone
perhaps it wouldn't hurt so much
if you were still around.

We would run around laughing
they were happy days, you see
and I wonder how I would feel
if you were here with me.

The plans we'd made for the future
they're now completely shattered
like glass, or a mirror
leaving me weak and battered.

We were going to live together
with a pet...or three
and I wonder how I would feel
if you were here with me.

"All the world's a stage,"
old Shakespeare said
have you gone off-stage?
'cause it feels like you're dead.

Not a word, not a sound
not a footprint to be seen
and I wonder how I would feel
if you were here with me.

I walk around in a daze
and people ask me if I'm okay
I smile at them and say, "I'm fine,"
when inside, I scream and cry.

Sometimes I'm numb
sometimes I'm angry
and I wonder how I would feel
if you were here with me.

The world just keeps on moving
the others walk around me
and I'm standing there, still
oh so still among their sea.

I'm drowning, yet undying
my memories won't let me be
and I wonder how I would feel
if you were here with me.
