Chapter 25: A Moment of Peace
Jungkook watched as Taehyung was wheeled out of the hospital, a sense of relief washing over him. Seeing Taehyung smile, even if it was just a small one, had lifted a weight off his shoulders. For the first time in days, Jungkook felt a sense of peace.
But, as he turned to leave, his clumsy side took over. He tripped over his own feet and stumbled, almost falling to the ground. Jungkook's face flushed with embarrassment as he quickly looked around to see if anyone had witnessed his mishap.
To his relief, the coast was clear. Or so he thought.
Seokjin, who had been watching from a distance, couldn't help but chuckle. "Kookie, I didn't know the perfect, cold CEO could be so clumsy," he said, shaking his head.
Jungkook's eyes narrowed, his face still red with embarrassment. "Jin hyung, I'm not clumsy! What are you talking about? I'm just...coordinating my movements."
Seokjin raised an eyebrow. "Coordinating your movements? Is that what they're calling it these days?"
Jungkook huffed, trying to play it cool. "Shut up, hyung. You're just jealous of my smooth moves."
Seokjin chuckled, clapping Jungkook on the back. "Keep telling yourself that, little brother. Keep telling yourself."
Jungkook rolled his eyes, but a small smile played on his lips. Despite his embarrassment, he was grateful for his brother's teasing. It was a reminder that, no matter how tough things got, he always had family to support him.
And with that, the two brothers shared a moment of laughter, the tension and stress of the past few days melting away.
A Long-Awaited Conversation
One week had passed since Taehyung's hospital discharge, and he had been slowly regaining his strength. The physical wounds were healing, but the emotional scars still lingered. Yet, today, Taehyung felt a sense of resolve wash over him. He was finally ready to face Jungkook and hear him out.
As he sat in his living room, Taehyung's heart raced with anticipation. Jungkook had been patiently waiting for this moment, and Taehyung knew it. Namjoon and Taehyung's parents were also present, offering their support and encouragement.
Just as Jungkook arrived, his family walked in alongside him. Seokjin, his brother, gave him a reassuring nod, while their parents looked on with a mix of concern and understanding. Jungkook's nervousness was palpable, and as he began to fumble with his words, his clumsiness returned.
He tripped over his own feet, almost falling onto the couch, and his parents' eyes widened in shock. "Jungkook, what's gotten into you?" his mother asked, her voice laced with a mix of amusement and worry.
Seokjin chuckled and patted Jungkook on the back. "Don't worry, Mom. He's just a little... enthusiastic."
Taehyung's eyes never left Jungkook's face, his gaze softening slightly at the sight of Jungkook's vulnerability. "It's okay, Jungkook. Take your time. I'm listening."
Jungkook's eyes locked onto Taehyung's, and he took a deep breath before beginning. "Taehyung, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry for what I did. I was blind and stupid, and I hurt the person I care about most. Can you ever forgive me?"
The room fell silent, the weight of Jungkook's words hanging in the air. Taehyung's parents and Namjoon looked on, their faces filled with empathy and understanding. And as Taehyung searched Jungkook's eyes for sincerity, he saw something that gave him a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could start anew.
