"good morning Ashley!" Bethany chimed as she stood next to her best friend Ashley's locker with a small wave.
"morning Beth." Ashley said as she held her usual iced coffee in her hand. Her hot pink nails and her honey blonde hair really just popped in contrast from her bold makeup and spray tan.
It was just your typical Wednesday. A regular day for a not so regular girl. Ashely Scotts was known for her big ego and confidence, kind of your run-of-the-mill 'popular girl' who just so happens to be both popular and rich. Although Ashley's never ending self-confidence, she wasn't mean at all.
"again with that crap?" Beth claimed, following with an eyeroll as her arms folded below her chest. Bethany, being a none coffee drinker, clearly did not know what she was missing out on.
"I like what I like, okay?" protested Ashely, she sipped loudly on her iced coffee purely just to spite Beth.
"whatever, you do you girl." Beth said with a shrug and a cocky smirk as her gaze traveled elsewhere. Her expression softens and she lets out a loud and excited gasp. "oh my gosh, It's Chad!!" she squealed as a tint of coral pink dusted onto her face.
"who the heck is that?" asked Ashley with an arched eyebrow as she shook the cup which her iced coffee was held in, making the ice crunch again eachother.
Bethany then proceeded to point at a tall figure standing amongst the students. As everyone cleared up, further facial features could be revealed.
The boy had chestnut brown hair and striking light green eyes, he had girls fawning over him by just breathing. Ashley clearly didn't get the hype. "of course his name is Chad.." she grumbled in irritation as she slurped on her coffee loudly from pure annoyance.
"he's so cute!" Bethany said, her heart racing as she continued to squeal. "he's so my type, I'm gonna go talk to him!" she said, looking back at Ashley. "how do I look?"
Bethany fixed her jet black curtain bangs to look semi-presentable. Ashley gave her a small thumbs up and an awkward smile, not knowing what to do or say. Beth smiled, unbuttoning the first two top buttons of her blouse for some 'cleavage'
Ashley watched as her friend waddled away to fawn over some guy. "who names their kid Chad?" Ashley muttered to herself with a slightly arched eyebrow. She shook her head in disbelief, sipping on her coffee as she rested her back against the lockers. She waited for the bell to ring for this; in her opinion, hellhole, to start and finish as soon as possible.
She leaned against a nearby locker as she looked around, secretly judging everyone walking by.
Shortly after though, her thoughts were cut short by a voice next to her. "uh, excuse me?" asked the voice, it sounded like a boy.
Ashley tilted her head and glanced at the boy. He had long black hair and the same striking green eyes that Chad guy had. He was quite attractive as well, not that she would admit that or anything. Besides, she already had a boyfriend. "can I help you?" She replied.
"you're kind of standing infront of my locker.." The boy commented with a slight chuckle. "oh, sorry!" She exclaimed softly as she moved out of the way. "I didn't notice." Added Ashley.
"it's all good." He said, opening up his locker and taking out a book. "I don't think I've seen you around here before, what's your name?" He asks with a tilted head and a slight grin.
"Ashley." She said, vaguely. "You ain't got a last name?" He questioned with a laugh.
Ashley sighed in annoyance. "Scotts," She answered. "Ashley Scotts."
He hummed in understanding as his emrald green eye traveled to the plastic cup of caffeine she held in her hand. "hm, you didn't really seem like a coffee drinker." He commented with a slight amount of cockiness lacing his tone.
"what's that supposed to mean?" Ashley asked, matching his tone. "nothing, I'm a coffee drinker myself." He added.
Ashley's eyebrows sprung up and her expression seemed to soften only the slightest. It was clear she was not expecting that. "what's your name?" Questioned Ashley, shifting from one foot to the other.
"Cameron Miller, but I go by Cam for short." Cameron shrugged.
"oh, Cam." She repeated, just to see how his name rolled off the tongue.
"so, what's your first class?" She continued in a softer tone, starting up some of what you would call small talk. "Calculus." He adds in a bored tone.
"ugh, that should be illegal." said Ashley in a disgusted tone. Cameron snuck a small laugh.
"yeah, calculus sucks." He said in a giggly tone. "what about you?
"Spanish." She commented.
"wow, spanish huh? He asks."yeah. I like the class but the teacher's a pain in the neck." Ashely said with a small chuckle.
"Ms Garcia?" Cam asked, leaning against his locker.
"yeah! She's always nagging me about my nails or about my hair." She protests as she gently looked at her pink cuticles.
"she's just jealous she can't pull off the pink nails look." He said with a laugh. Ashley couldn't help but also sneak a small giggle.
As soon as they were about to speak again, the bell rang as loud as it always rang. As the hallways started to clear up and the students started to head to class, Cam commented again.
"well, I should get going, Mr Williams doesn't want any late students. I wouldn't wanna get detention. I'll see you around Ash." He nods once as he makes his way to calculus class.
Ashley waved slightly as a small tint of light pink dusted onto her cheeks. She quickly shook is off and made her way to spanish class. As she climbed up the stairs with a few other students, she finally made it to the second floor and walked into the classroom, taking her seat.
She threw away the plastic cup which was used to hold her iced coffee in a nearby bin.
