The next morning, I woke up early, still feeling the weight of yesterday's events. I got ready for work, trying to push thoughts of Ajax aside. As I walked to my car, I couldn't help but scan the surroundings, half-expecting to see him again. But of course, he wasn't there.

At work, I tried to focus on my tasks, but my mind kept drifting back to the store. I decided to confide in my colleague, Sarah, during lunch. She was always good at giving advice.

As we sat down in the break room, I took a deep breath. "Sarah, can I talk to you about something?"

"Of course, Aurelia. What's on your mind?" she asked, her expression concerned.

I hesitated for a moment, then told her about the encounter with Ajax. "I met this guy at the store yesterday. It was brief, but...intense. I can't stop thinking about him."

Sarah raised an eyebrow. "Sounds intriguing. What happened?"

I recounted the details, watching her reaction. "He seemed...different. Like there was more to him than he was letting on. But I don't know if I'll ever see him again."

Sarah nodded thoughtfully. "Sometimes, people come into our lives for a reason, even if it's just for a moment. Maybe there's something you needed to learn from that encounter. Or maybe it's not over yet."

Her words gave me a glimmer of hope. Maybe she was right. Maybe there was a reason I met Ajax. Only time would tell.

*********

I tried my best to keep up with the conversation at hand but my mind kept drifting back to her. Aurelia...

I tried to paying attention to my dad who was telling me about the company statistics

" -and so far we've been able to increase sales per 0.2%"

I groaned inwardly. I couldn't decide which was more torturous pretending to care about the company's statistics or the fact my mind is void of interest when Aurelia isn't involved.

"Ajax" my dad spoke looking at me intently.

I cleared my throat, "yes?"

"What's on your mind?"

Aurelia.

"Nothing." I lied

"Very well then. We have a meeting with the interns in a few minutes get yourself together and meet me in the conference room."

My dad left the room, leaving me with my thoughts.
