(Flashback)

Shoyo’s POV

The sound of laughter filled the air as Shoyo chased a butterfly through the sunflower field, his orange hair gleaming in the sunlight. This field was his sanctuary, a place where he could forget everything and just be a kid. It was here, among the towering sunflowers, that he first met Seiji. One day, as he darted between the sunflowers, Shoyo stumbled upon a boy sitting alone. His clothes were torn, and his face was smeared with dirt. The boy’s eyes, a piercing shade of blue, were filled with a sadness that made Shoyo’s heart ache.

“Hi! I’m Shoyo!” he greeted with his characteristic enthusiasm. “What’s your name?”The boy looked up, startled. “Seiji,” he mumbled, looking away.

Shoyo noticed the bruises on Seiji’s arms and the way he flinched at every sound. He sat down beside him, offering a bright smile. “Do you want to play with me?”

Seiji shook his head, but there was a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. Shoyo, determined to make a new friend, began to tell him stories about his adventures in the sunflower field. Slowly, Seiji’s guarded expression softened.Over the next few weeks, Shoyo and Seiji became inseparable. They spent hours exploring the field, playing games, and sharing secrets. Shoyo learned that Seiji came from an abusive family, and his heart ached for his friend. He made it his mission to bring joy into Seiji’s life.

One day, while they were lying in the field, gazing up at the sky, Shoyo turned to Seiji. “Why don’t you smile more often? You have a nice smile.”Seiji looked away, his eyes clouding over. “I don’t have much to smile about.”

Shoyo reached out and gently took Seiji’s hand. “You have me. And I’ll always be here to make you smile.”

Seiji’s eyes filled with tears, but for the first time, he smiled—a small, hesitant smile, but a smile nonetheless. From that moment on, Shoyo became Seiji’s light, his sunflower in a world full of darkness.

Years passed, and their bond only grew stronger. Shoyo’s cheerful nature continued to break down Seiji’s walls, and Seiji’s once stoic expression began to show more emotion.

One particularly embarrassing moment stood out in their childhood. It was during one of their many adventures in the sunflower field. Shoyo had convinced Seiji to join him in a game of tag. Seiji, who was normally reserved, had started to enjoy these games, his laughter echoing through the field.

Shoyo was in the middle of chasing Seiji when he tripped over a hidden root and fell face-first into the dirt. Seiji, unable to contain his laughter, doubled over, clutching his stomach. Shoyo, his face smeared with dirt and a bewildered expression, looked up at Seiji and couldn’t help but laugh too.

“Looks like the sunflowers got you this time!” Seiji teased, offering Shoyo a hand to help him up.

Back in the present, as Shoyo sat in the restaurant with his friends and family, he glanced at Seiji, who was now smiling and laughing with the twins. His heart swelled with pride and affection for the boy who had once been so broken and had now become such an integral part of his life.

Seiji caught Shoyo’s gaze and gave him a knowing smile, as if to say, “Thank you for being my light.” Shoyo smiled back, grateful for the journey they had shared and the future that lay ahead.

Aran and Izuki watched the interaction with smiles, genuinely happy for Shoyo. They had always seen him as a beacon of light and were glad he had someone like Seiji to reflect that light back to him. But the others couldn’t hide their mixed emotions.
