2. Fleeing Problems

It's been two weeks since the New Year's disaster. Lizzy is not talking to Miguel or my father, with me she only talks the basics (but I feel it's not like it used to be), and tomorrow classes start, and I'm going to try to use this as a distraction, a way to escape the problems that are surrounding me, so after brushing my teeth I lie down and go to bed, ready to start high school tomorrow.

Next Day - January 08, 2024 - First day in High School

I woke up very early today, took a shower slowly, and then I put on black jeans, a polo shirt and a black jacket with a vans shoe, and then I went to the kitchen, and started making my snack, Lizzy's and Miguel's as a way of reconciliation.

As soon as I finish the snacks of each one of us, I will call Lizzy and Miguel who leave the room at the same time

- Good morning! - I'll tell you as soon as I see them both

- Good morning - Lizzy responds very dry

- Good morning - Miguel responds a little more cheerful

- Look, I made your snack - I say handing the paper bag to them

- Thanks - Lizzy says picking up the bag and leaving

- Thank you Lucas - Miguel says taking the bag and then putting the headset in his ear and going to school by bike

Honestly, I thought this was going to work... so so that I don't get late in the middle of the first day of school, I take my bike and my snack and pedal to school. It doesn't even take me 10 minutes to get to school, as soon as I arrive I see Steve (YES, THAT STEVE!) Stopped and apparently waited for me, so I stop the bike and go up to talk to him.

- What's up man, I thought you weren't going to come! - Steve says in the middle of a hug

- Well, I had some problems and I couldn't come before - I say

- Well, analyzing that you and your brothers came apart... I suggest that the problem involves them, right - Steve says as we go towards the classroom

- Look, a certain answer! - I say laughing and stop when I get to my room - Well, I'm from this room

- Lie? Me too - Steve says with a smile on his face

- I'm glad you'll be here! I have no idea who's here - I say

- So let's see, who's in our room - He says and soon we enter the room

When I enter the room, I realize that Lizzy, Miguel and Mariana are there, but to my bad luck... Nathan is there, so the teacher arrives and talks to the class

- Good morning class, welcome and know that this year will be different, I will form pairs that will be used until the end of the year! - He takes a break - Let's start... Lizzy stays with Steve, Miguel and Mariana, Lucas and...- He takes a break to find someone, I just hope it's not who I'm thinking - NATHAN! They can form boys - He then continues to make the pairs of the rest of the room

FUCKING, I can't believe I went to sit down with him, I can't believe this is going to be the worst year of my life... it was supposed to be the other way around. I then sit next to him and put my backpack next to me.

- Lucas, can we talk? - Nathan tries to talk

- Mr. Diaz, I think I was very clear about "NO CONVERSATION!" - The Professor says making Nathan keep quiet

So the first four classes followed and every time Nathan tried to talk to me I found a way to escape the conversation, so at the break table I, Lizzy, Miguel, Steve and Mariana sat down and started talking about it.

- What a son of a bitch - Steve says

- True Steve, he's a son of a bitch... he ended Lucas' life and now he's in the same room as us!? - Lizzy says

- Guys, it's kind of not his fault he fell into the same room as us - I say

- That doesn't matter Lucas, I think you have to try to change pairs - Miguel says looking at me

- I've already asked the teacher, but there's no chance - I say

- That sucks! - Mariana says

- Yeah, but then I worry about it, I'm going to the board to solve the authorization to be a tutor - I say getting up

- Wait, tutor of what? - Steve asks

- From tutoring - I say and go to the board room

On the Board of Directors - 09h56m

I arrive at the board and the director is coming to receive me

- Lucas, my dear, how are you? - She says

- I'm very well! And I came here with a mission to fulfill - I say

- If it's about tutoring, know that your papers are already up to date - She says

- Wow, you were quick! - I say laughing

- You are a good student, and all YOUR students did very well after the tutoring, that's the kind of person I want, so I took the attitude of updating your file almost now! - She says

- Okay, so thank you very much - I say and I'm heading towards my classroom

After all, the class went well, with nothing to distract me... then the signal rings and everyone goes home, so on a street any Lizzy is walking and then is pulled by Miguel who tries to talk to her.

- Damn Miguel, do you want to scare me to death? - Lizzy says scared

- I want to talk to you - Miguel says holding Lizzy's shoulder

- Okay shit, talk! - Lizzy says letting go

- I swear, that I have nothing to do with our mother's thing! I really wanted all this nonsense to end we could live without any secrets, but that's not what happened, and I'm really sorry, and I don't want us to stop talking because of our mother's and father's problems... and please Lizzy, I ask you not to stop talking to me, please! - Miguel says

Lizzy stands still for a while thinking

- I hate it, you're very stupid... but I can't go without talking to you - Lizzy says and then gives Miguel a hug, making him very happy with the attitude

- Wait a minute, are we okay then? - Miguel asks still confused but with a smile on his face

- Of course you idiot, but now let's go home - Lizzy says passing her arm over Miguel's neck

So Miguel and Lizzy went home talking and apologizing for everything, but now the two were together for whatever comes and goes, and go for me... a lot of things are coming around.
