Peter took a breath, a little nervous, and walked over to the kitchen where Steve was talking on the phone."He wants joint custody?" Steve sighed, turning his back to where Peter was in the kitchen entrance, and rested his hand against the kitchen island. "...of course I want full custody of the kid. I'm sure any judge will give it to me after all ,I have more stabilitie than he did".Peter swallowed and felt a pang of fear in his chest, and he backed away a little. Steve sighed again.—I... I'll tell you that I'll think about it. I'll talk to you later, Jen.—he hung up the call and ran a hand through his hair. Peter sighed, trying to ignore what he had just heard, and moved a little closer to his blonde father.

—Papa?

Steve turned around and saw him."What's wrong, Petey?""Dad ,called me to imform you that there is gonna be a meeting at the tower next saturday."he said nervously"why didn't he call me?"Peter just shrugged and left the room.

Tony swallowed as Steve slid the papers across the table.-Alright. "Take as much time as you need." he heard Steve say in the same comforting voice he used when he calmed him down during his anxiety attacks. "I know this is hard... after all... ten years of marriage isn't enough." They disappear just like that...Tony felt like taking the divorce papers and tearing them up with his hands. Instead, he took a breath, and with a trembling hand he took the pen to put his signature where it was needed. Tony felt like he was signing a contract to sell his soul, to give up his happiness. It was official.Tony felt like he was being stabbed again and again. He felt Steve smile at him even though he wasn't looking, and when he did, he could see pain in Rogers' eyes despite the calmness in his smile."Thank you for this, Tony," Steve said as he and his now ex-husband got up from the table and walked towards each other.—Thank you... to you, for agreeing to joint custody...—Tony sighed.Steve cleared his throat. He hadn't wanted Tony to have custody of the child because it still made him extremely angry that Tony was having Morgan much time than he himself.

Still, Peter  would be staying with Steve most of the time.

When Steve and Tony started talking to the kids to ask them which of the two they preferred to stay with, Peter alone, with his eyes downcast, and his eyes filled with tears, he murmured that even though he had no resentment towards Tony, he wanted to stay with Steve. And Morggan just shrugged and said that she wanted to stay with Tony.

That, along with everything that had happened in the last few months, had become one of the most painful moments in Steve and Tony's lives.

They both gave each other a small hug and Tony hid his face in Steve's shoulder, holding back a sob while he felt the blonde's muscular arms surrounding him, wishing with all his might that this wouldn't be the last time Steve hugged him.

He felt terrible when Steve let go of him and walked a little away from him, looking at him with a sad smile.

—Tony, I hope you know that the ten years we spent together as married couples, and  raising  Morgan and Peter together, were the happiest of my entire life...

"That means a lot, coming from someone who is  87 years old..." Tony chuckled, then sighed. He looked at the divorce papers painfully, and then noticed something.

—Huh...

"What?" Steve asked.—You signed... as Steve Rogers-Stark...He noticed Steve blush.

When they were engaged, they couldn't decide which last name to take, so Steve simply changed his last name to Rogers-Stark and Tony to Stark-Rogers. They had also decided to give Peter and Morgan Tony's last name first because in The cheer back then Steve hadn't been able to resist Tony's puppy dog eyes.

But even though they both used both their family name and each other's last name, they were usually referred to simply as Stark and Rogers because it was easier that way."Oh..." Steve chuckled, and cleared his throat, then quickly looked at the papers, and noticed that Tony had signed as Stark-Rogers. "Well, it had become a habit to sign like that... I think that I'll have to go back to just using Rogers, even though almost no one referred to me as Rogers-Stark...Steve sighed and gave TONY a small smile.—Well... I guess... I'll see you later...-Me too...Tony cleared his throat."I should leave before Peter gets home from school... I wouldn't want him to literally see us together after we signed the divorce papers..." He chuckled. "Can I use the bathroom before I leave?""Yes, of course." Steve smiled at Tony kindly. Tony felt that he would miss that smile, even though he would continue to see Steve, for reasons of the Avengers and, of course, the kids.

Tony walked towards the guest bathroom and closed the door behind him. He sighed as he took out a small plastic bag with some pills from his jacket pocket. He swallowed hesitantly, then took a deep breath, opened the bag, and took two of the pills. He took it upon himself to leave quickly and quietly without Steve seeing him, as the Captain knew him well enough to immediately recognize when he had just gotten high.

                                               ...

Rose Hill, Tennessee.

Tony came back on last notice to the hospital, going straight to the room where was supposed to be Harley Keener.

Tony was looking at the papers that he was holding with horror, not knowing if telling was the right thing
