Jealousy hurts

Match's Pov:

I didn't think pencil would actually invite ruby to hang out with us! This is so awkward now...

But before I could get a word out pencil came behind ruby.
[Pencil] "Hey match!" Pencil waves at me and invites me to come into her house.

I wave at her and ruby. I walk in and sit down on her couch. Should i just leave right now? No...that would be rude..! Maybe i should-

[Pencil] "Uh...match? Are you ok you haven't said a word to me or ruby yet."
Both of them are staring at me now...
[Match] "....I need to go" I run out her house leaving the door open behind me and not looking back.

Maybe I shouldn't have done that...
I walk down the almost empty sidewalk looking down at my feet thinking if i made the right decision.

"Well...where should i go now? I don't really want to be at home right now, it's such a beautiful day out" i was thinking of where to go and i was so lost in thoughts that when i turned the corner i bumped into someone.

[Match] "I'm like so sorry!" I look up to see who i bumped into and it was book. "Oh, like hey book!"

[Book] "Hi match! Didn't expect to see you, especially because you live all the way across town!"

[Match] "I was just visiting pencil for a little. But since i'm not busy would you maybe want to hang out with me?"

[Book] "Yeah sure! I'm not busy either! What do you wanna do?"

[Match] "How about the park?"

[Book] "Alright!"

We both walk to the park nearby. It's pretty close, only 3 minutes.
Once we get there we take a seat on a bench that looked like it's seen better days and start talking.

After a while of talking to each other i look over to book with a serious face.

[Match] "Book, can i like...tell you something?"

[Book] "Of course! You can tell me anything"

[Match] "Ok well i feel like pencil is starting to replace me with ruby and she doesn't like me as much anymore!"

[Book] "so...you're jealous because pencil isn't paying as much attention to you as before?"

[Match] "I'm not jealous...at least i don't think i am..." Am i really like jealous?

[Book] "Look match...i can tell you like pencil more than a friend. You love her. But you also need to let her have other friends. It can't always just be you and her."

[Match] "i don't like pencil that way! And i know i can't have her all to myself but i a.so don't want her replacing me! She's my best friend!" Why doesn't book understand? I just don't want to be replaced!

Book gives me a stern look as if she knew i was lying about something. And i was...I was lying about not liking pencil.

[Book] "...your telling me you absolutely DON'T like pencil?"

I looked down at the ground not saying anything.

[Book] "Your saying you don't like her even though every day you talk about how amazing she is, you always walk with her, you follow her around everywhere, and never talk about anything BUT pencil?"

I look up at book and sigh. I should just tell her i like pencil. She basically already knows!

[Match] "You're right. I do like pencil."

Book's Pov:

I already knew she liked pencil. I don't know why it took her so long to admit it.

[Book] "I'm glad you finally said it! But anyways, about the whole pencil situation, i think you should just let her hangout with ruby right now. Pencil is probably just trying to get to know her better!"

[Match] "I guess that could be the case...thanks book. That made me feel better."

[Book] "I'm glad you feel better. But i need to get home now. It's getting kinda late. Goodbye!"

I get off the bench and start walking to the entrance waving back at match.

[Match] "Bye! See ya tomorrow!"
Match waves back at me and i continue on walking down the sidewalk where i bumped into match.

Match's Pov:

Looking at book leave made me realize i should probably also leave. It is getting pretty late now, the sun is starting to set.

I walk out the park and walk home. I start to think of what book said. Maybe pencil is really just trying to get to know ruby better and i'm the jealous one...

-time skip to when she gets home-

I open the door to my house and go straight to my room. I jump onto my bed, not even taking my shoes off or changing into my pj's, and fall asleep as soon as i land on it. Hopefully tomorrow pencil will talk to me.
