Amais sat happily in the passenger seat of the car, rubbing his tummy as they drove somewhere he didn't recognize. Although Marc had briefly mentioned going to a clothing store. He still continued to look out of the window at the sights, getting to see a different part of the city as Marc and Cane talked together.
He didn't much care what they spoke of so he used this time to muse about the prospect of a job, or occasionally asking a question or two about his surroundings. He was getting a feel for this world. Before long though, the car stopped, permanently this time, and the other two left the car. He left along with them, pulling down the hem of his tunic and walking beside them as he saw a giant building come into view. It was much wider than any building he'd seen so far, spanning hundreds of meters across a large expanse. But it was not that tall.
The dragon eyed the building curiously before he found himself beside Marc. "This is the mall. We didn't really know what store you would like so why not go somewhere where there are a lot of them." He said proudly.
Amais' eyes lit up. "Oh! Like a bazaar!?" He asked, happy he could finally understand something from this strange world.
Marc nodded slowly. "You know what, yeah! Just like that. Except it's all inside, so no shouting, preferably no growling, no talking about murdering people and no actually murdering people. Got it?"
Amais gave him a blank stare. "No."
"Ok whatever. Just act not like you usually do." Marc said as he opened the door to the massive building, the old, smudged glass somehow managing to creak open. Amais' eyes widened. While the outside was impressive, the inside was much more so. Lights glittered like jewels all across the ceiling, the floors were so incredibly shiny and hundreds of people walked back and forth from tiny cubes filled with.. stuff!
All sorts of things. Clothing, face paints, jewelry, food. It was magnificent. He thought back to a bazaar, to the large crowds and the many vendors that shouted over each other to get even a semblance of relevancy, and realized they were still very different. The same concept yes, but this was just so advanced it was hard to compare the two.
The dragon looked back and forth and up and down as they walked, his pupils dilating as the different options came into view. Marc chuckled and Cane walked up on his other side. "See anything you like?" He asked.
"There is jewelry... and gold." he said with a loud grumble, earning a few concerned stares from around them.
Marc looked back at the passerby's with an apologetic smile and shook his head towards Amais. "Oh, no that gold is fake."
The dragons greedy stare turned back to a bored expression. He'd remembered elves used to do that too. Instead of using the real material, he would be told so and when he found out otherwise later, he would promptly burn them to a crisp for even thinking he couldn't recognize real gold from up close. The store owner of this small jewelry store was lucky he hadn't figured it out himself or there would be hell to pay.
Cane must have seen the angry stare in Amais' eyes so he patted his forearm softly. Amais turned to him with an even stronger glare.
The llama chuckled awkwardly before pulling his hands away. "We meant something more clothing related anyway." He said quietly.
The dragon looked around for clothing material, his tail whipping in curiosity. "That one." He said as they veered towards that spot. It was a clothing store filled the bejeweled clothes, and shiny gowns.
Marc and Cane snickered before he was corrected again. "That is a woman's clothing store. Not only would you look ridiculous, I'm sure nothing would fit you anyways." Marc said.
