~original character imagine~
Steve came home late, but Ava made sure to stay up for him.
Warnings: none :)
My first OC on imagines!
.............................................................................
2:54 am. I was exhausted.
But I was waiting for Steve to come home.
The apartment was quiet. I sat in the living room. Steve was on a mission. I couldn't sleep if he was off.
I quietly watched tv, in his sweatshirt and some pajama pants. A blanket was around me.
I heard keys rattle, and then the door open. I watched Steve come in, setting his keys down. He came over, setting his backpack down.
He sat down next to me. He looked exhausted.
"Hi." He said. "You shouldn't be up."
"I wanted to wait for you." I said. I rubbed his cheek.
He pulled me into a kiss. I smiled, kissing him back.
"I'm so tired." He whispered.
"Come on Cap. Let's get you to bed." I said. I helped him up.
I got into bed while Steve changed. He was bruised. I turned on the lamp beside me.
"Hey...you should ice that."
"Mmm. I'm too tired." He whined. He went to the bathroom to look at them. "How was your day?"
"It was good. Work was long I guess. Yours?"
"Ava. I hate when you say it was 'good'. Give me something."
"It was boring. I missed you all day."
He smirked, shutting the light off. I gave him a little smile.
"How was yours?"
"Uhhh...I don't know. Besides getting hurt, it was fine. I think I'm just burnt out."
"You know you could call in just once."
"I don't think I can."
"To a day of training or something. Just to get some rest. I'll take the day off too."
He gave me a smile, getting into bed. He was only in his boxers. He was always far too hot. I was always cold. I guess that worked. He would always warm me up. I took all the blankets. The room was always freezing though.
Steve pulled me in. I hesitated to lay my head down.
"I can't feel it. You're fine."
"They look so painful."
"I really don't feel it at all. I promise."
I nodded. "I'm turning your phone off when you fall asleep. We're not getting up tomorrow."
"Ava."
"Hey. You're so tired. You got home late and they expect you back right away. Everyone else pretty much lives at Shield."
"Well- yeah but..."
"But nothing. Here." I said. I shut the blackout curtains. "You're sleeping in."
"Till eight or something maybe."
I set my hands on my hips, giving him a look. He sighed.
"Babe. Please."
"Oh don't give me that." I said. He smiled.
"Fine. I'll sleep."
I got back into bed. "I will call out of work tomorrow."
"I feel so bad."
"Just sent a text that I've been throwing up all night and can't make it in."
He sighed. "I love you so much."
I giggled. "I love you too."
He laid down, resting his head on my shoulder. I rubbed my fingers through his hair.
He had relaxed so quickly. I wouldn't talk for the rest of the night. I was tired too.
I reached over to turn my lamp off. Steve shifted a little.
I kissed his head, getting comfortable again. I loved nights like this. This is why I waited for him to come home.
I loved him so much.
I woke up to a quiet room. I glanced to Steve's side, seeing him still fast asleep. I smiled. My clock read 10:12. He did good.
I quietly tiptoed out of bed, brushing my teeth and hair before going to the kitchen. I made coffee and started on breakfast.
After a while Steve came out. He was still shirtless. He came up behind me and kissed my cheek.
"Hi." He said.
"Good morning."
He hugged me from behind, grabbing a strawberry that I had cut up.
I watched our cat walk in. I made Steve get a therapy animal. He had some trauma. And by some I mean a lot.
Steve moved to give the cat his food. I smiled.
"You're such a sweetheart."
"Yeah?" He said and kissed me. I smiled.
"Yes."
"Thanks for letting me sleep in."
"I did the same. I woke up at ten."
"Good. So we both got good sleep."
I nodded. "I love you."
"I love you too."
