I don't remember much after that, but I remember waking up from a hit on my head. I open my eyes and feel funny like my head is swimming and I'm not quite awake yet. But I hear footsteps behind me, and I see Mary next to me.
Where are we?
I study the floor, yes, we're on the floor, I know this floor, I look up and it is confirmed, I'm in Zygo's spaceship. So he has succeded, he brought us back to live and got us back to his ship. At least that, now I know I will be forever grateful for what he had done to Mary and I today.
Slowly, I reach for Mary and see that she is breathing, but her pulse is so light, and my jaw clenches when I look at how sunken her right eyelid is. They took her eye, for what? What a bunch of sick people.
I try to sit down slowly and see Zygo running around like a headless chicken.
"They got us trapped," he says clearly panicking. "They are waiting for us to get out of the atmosphere to catch us, or... I think they are willing to blow up this planet,"
I wonder if that was what had happened to Earth.
"Get out of this planet, I still can fight,"
"Not with hundreds of their fleets ready to attack, Lev," Zygo is looking at me. "Anyway, we're dead," He looks back at Mary, "I thought your kinds were the monsters, but look at her..."
I put my hand on his shoulders, "Yeah, they are the real monsters," I try to think, "What do we need to get them into the Time Tunnel?"
"Well, they are predictable natural occurrences, I can check if there will be any time soon, but, if you want to make one, we need a big bang," He explains to me.
"Can we make a big bang?" I ask him.
"With this ship? No. It's a cargo ship, not a military ship," Zygo and I look at each other trying to find a way, "But their ships can make a big explosion," He adds.
"Can we—"
We both heard Mary's soft sigh and immediately remembered that she is still on the floor. "I'll take her to the bedroom," Zygo immediately says, ready to bend over and scoop her in his arms.
But Mary caught his arm before he could pull her.
"Mary?" We call her at the same time. She is heaving, it's clear that she needs a moment until her vision is adjusted.
"Mother fucker..." she breathes out. "Where are those shitheads? I'm going to kill them all,"
I close my eyes and send my thanks to above and beyond. I kneel next to her and hug her tight.
"Levy?" Her voice turns softer when she realizes that I'm with her. "You're safe," she breathes out in relief. Both of her arms immediately hold me close. I let out a shuddering breath while I hold her close, breathing in her scent, feeling that she really is here with me. How relieved I feel right now, for a moment, I thought I lost her. I do not want to experience anything like that ever again in my life.
"Don't ever do that to me ever again," I whisper to her.
"No promises, baby, I needed to get you out of that shit," She says running her fingers through my hair.
"I want to be in that shit, as long as I'm with you I don't mind being in a deep shit,"
"Is that like... human idiom or something?" Zygo asks.
Mary lets me go gently, she turns to Zygo and smiles at him, "Sorry we lied," Her eyes are soft as she looks at him, her hand reaches out to touch his face, which we notice was missed slightly, she needs to adjust herself with her new vision.
