Chase's POV

I've been watching her for a month now. I can't wait to see her and ask her to be my girlfriend. Well, I might startle her but I think she'll get over it eventually. I'm not used to being in a relationship. I know that I can't fall for her. I've dated a lot of hot girls. Maybe it's time to "fake date" a nerdy girl like her. It's gonna make mum go insane. I mentally smile at the thought. She has been controlling me since my dad passed away. She wants me to take over the business my father left. She wanted my older sister to run the company but she left. She pursued her dreams away from my mum's watch.

"My name's Chase. I'm your boyfriend."

I flash a smile that can melt anyone. Well I'm a bit conceited but everybody says I've got the right to be. I see her tense as I mention the word boyfriend. Am I really affecting her that much? I chuckle lightly staring at her now red face. She's interesting, I could say. But she's not my type. She just stares at me with big eyes. She is in deep thought. And I am actually enjoying the entertainment brought about by her cute reaction. Wait, did I just say cute?

"Look, uhm Chase, if y-you intend to screw around, d-don't drag me into this BS. I've had enough of b-bullying since I was a kid."

She tries to look infuriated but she looks vulnerable. Something inside me coaxes me to comfort her. I feel bad because she might fall for me in the process. I'll make sure she'll not fall deep. I stand up and walk over to her. She backs away and trips but I catch her. I hear her heart pound loudly in her chest. Her breathing is irregular. I smile because she just gapes at me, clearly intimidated by our proximity. She accidentally diverts her eyes to my lips. I move a bit closer causing her to fidget in my arms. I planted a kiss at the tip of her nose. With wide eyes, she pushes me away.

"W-what the hell was that!"

She practically yells which makes the people turn their heads toward us. I smile, too sweet that it appears rather sick. I playfully run my hand at the back of my head. Somebody clears their throat. I immediately turn my heard to the source of the noise. I see the store manager inching closer to us with a guy behind him. I smile at him which he ignores then he turns to Star. Concern is all over his face.

"Are you ok?"

He asks while he squints his eyes, carefully examining Star's still red face. The other guy, Gus just looks at her with equally concerned face.

"I-I am okay, store manager..."

She stutters and turns her head towards me throwing daggers at me. Darn, she looks kinda scary. She faces the manager and forces a smile on her face.

"It's Nate, Star. How many times do I have to tell you that?"

He looks annoyed at being called store manager. I look at Star who wants to end the conversation right away.

"Uhm, sorry N-Nate... Look I'm fine. We were just talking, right Chase?"

She looks at me gesturing me to ride on her scheme. I smile.

"Yes, uhm Nate right? Me and my tart were just talking. Right, babe?"

I drag on the last word for emphasis. I see the blush creep up her face again. I try to suppress a laugh. She has to play along to save us from trouble.

"Look, this a clear misunderstanding. Me and Chase are not..."

She tries to explain but she is cut off by some animal shrieking like it is being slaughtered. I look around and see the source of the irritating noise. Well, what a beautiful animal, I suppose.

"When do you plan to tell me, woman! I thought we're friends?"

The girl pouts. Her name is Erin. She looks good but too noisy. She irks me. Star rolls her eyes, clearly annoyed. Gus looks at me then at Star with an amused expression. I know he's trying to suppress a smile.

"Ok. Now let's drop the drama and let's all get back to work. Nice to me meet you, uhmm Chase right? Well I guess we'll see you around often."

Nate says calmly and smiles at me. He turns his back and heads towards the counter. Gus walks behind him now wearing a knowing smile. Erin, still making bouts of annoying sounds, scrutinizes me while grinning. Star is still in shock. Oh man. This is going to be fun.
