The trouble that fell on Vijaygarh was terrible.
The land of Bharatvarsha had war rules, which the invaders had denounced. Chandiveer did not expect the invasion to go to the extent of ruining the lives of common people. The invaders started their attack at night when light was almost unavailable. Chandiveer hadn't thought that any army would break the rules of war. He soon discovered that the invading army didn't care about the rules of war. They were capturing women and girls. They killed old people, men, and male children at sight in an indiscriminate manner. They didn't distinguish between a civilian and a soldier, killing them just like that.
Chandiveer, the King of Vijaygarh, was a brave man. His courage wouldn't let him abandon his people. Quickly, he had gathered the women into the fort and stood by the fort, not allowing a single man of the enemy to enter the place. For 5 nights and 4 days, Chandiveer had been fighting them. He wouldn't give up as long as he had life within himself. The army of the invader might have outnumbered the Rajputs but couldn't match their courage. Each of them fought till the end.
"Rana Ji, we saw an army approaching."
"Another round?" Chandiveer almost sighed with worry. He didn't know how long they would withstand the destruction.
"They are carrying a flag that has Hanuman Ji on it."
"Hanuman ji? Are you sure?"
Another soldier came down quickly and said, "Rana ji, Kalika Empire's army is approaching us with their banner being accompanied by Hanuman ji on another banner."
It is a sign of support. Kalika Empire had come, making a loud statement of wanting to help Vijaygarh. That was why they brought along a banner that had Hanuman Ji on it. They couldn't have skipped Saura and other Rajput kingdoms if they desired to conquer Vijaygarh.
The news of help filled the Rajputs with a new wave of enthusiasm that had just died in them.
"Go stop the Jauhar agni that has been lit up. We are winning this war." Chandiveer smiled in hope. They filled a new hope within him. Vijaygarh wouldn't fall into the hands of the invaders.
From the security towers, the Rajput archers saw the incoming Kalika Empire's army breaking down in several parts and moving into civilian areas, joining the Rajput soldiers fighting to save the civilians. Shakrajit's army was valiant in its actions to protect the civilians. Their main agenda was to drive these barbarians out of civilian areas and corner them into areas where hunting them down would be easier.
The invader's army couldn't handle the onslaught that was brought by the Kalika Empire. Much like the goddess the empire was named after, Shakra's army had specially followed the aim not just to drive the invaders away from the lands and civilian areas but also to destroy them in a manner that they wouldn't dare to come back again for decades to come.
The news spreading through the fort brought happiness to everyone.
The Rajputs saw Shakra within the army and understood his fame as the King of the Battlefield. Shakra was the messenger of death to his opponents. His sword slashed through the enemy, and heads rolled off the bodies. Shakra's sword, Raktapaayin, had the embellishment of the image of Sri Chandika. A beautifully crafted ukku made the urumi, which was devastating to any enemy before him. It was sharp and serpentine in nature, hence the name Kaalasarpa. Shakrajit, just like his name suggests, was a victor in every form and way.
To the invading army, Shakra looked like the devil who rose from hell to dance in their blood.
Shakra, like the son of Kalika, stood over his battle elephant, which trampled upon the enemies who fell off their horses. The precision of the elephant's training was visible in the way it solely knew how to target the enemy soldier. Manas passed him the spear. Aiming perfectly at the general of the invading army, Shakra released the spear like Skanda, having found Tarkasura on the battlefield. The spear went right through the neck of the general, cleanly cutting the head off. The soldier just in front of the general fighting him jumped just a little behind, and the spear hit the ground. The head rolled off at the main gate of the fort. Shakra reached there, picked it up, impaled the head of the general on it, and hung it over the main gates for all the soldiers to see.
