Almost Home

Is there a way to go into Wattpad lockdown? My brother and cousin found my account. I'm okay with letting strangers read this stuff, but them? Harrumph. Angry Maddy.

Freddward's pov

Sam was almost home. I couldn't believe it. It feels like we've been in that hospital FOREVER. And my mom, even though I texted her the second we got to the hospital to tell her where I was, has been calling me non-stop freaking out about how I've been away from her for more than a day. The overnight thing was killing her. I told her Spencer was with us but she was still freaking out. Anyway, Sam just had to walk a little bit, which, knowing Sam, I would bet money that she'd suck up however much it hurts to and walk. When Carly and I were allowed back into the room, Sam sucked in a deep breath and sat up in her hospital bed.

"Let's do this."

Carly, Spencer and I grinned.

"That's my Sam." I laughed.

"Don't call me that."

"Okay."

A/N They aren't dating. I like them in their weird denial stage thing.

Sam slowly swung her legs over the side of the bed, grimacing. She touched the floor with one toe lightly, like it was half-cooled lava. Then she touched her other toe to the floor, more confidently this time. Soon she had both feet on the floor, but she was still sitting on the bed. The nurse hovered near her. She shifted her weight slowly onto both feet and started to get up. She stood shakily and then took one step, and another, and another, and....

Collapsed into my arms.

"Sorry." She murmured.

"S'okay." I told her quickly.

Carly, again, looked dumbfounded at how easily Sam was taking the fact that all her weight was being supported by me. Well, after the crazy two days we just had, I'm amazed she has any surprise left.

My arms were still positioned awkwardly under her shoulders so I gently turned her so I was hugging her to me, with her back pressed into my chest. Then I half dragged her back to the hospital bed. She sighed. "I guess I'm not leaving this afternoon, then." She said sadly.

"No, you still are." The nurse reassured, much to Sam's happiness. "It would take a superhuman to walk normally after surgery, and the medicine making you dizzy can't help at all." Sam nodded and she continued. "You can leave anytime you want."

"Now!" She shouted gleefully. "Let's blow this dump!" The nurse frowned.

"Sorry."

Then Spencer, who had been quiet this whole ordeal, spoke up. "I'll pack up our stuff and we'll leave."

The nurse nodded her approval. Then she left quickly, only to come back shortly with a wheelchair.

"Who's that for?" Sam asked. We all looked pitifully at the nurse. I hope she escapes this with all of her limbs.

"For you, Samantha."

"Woah, lady, the surgery did NOT affect my legs. I don't need a wheelchair." Sam argued.

"Would you like to try walking again?" The nurse shot back.

That shut her up.

Spencer and I helped Sam into the wheelchair, and she squirmed around excitedly.

"This is actually pretty cool! A device to save you from the terrors of walking! Can I keep it? Where's the remote control on this thing?"

The nurse answered her questions hesitantly, waiting for an argument. "One, you can't keep it. It belongs to the hospital. Two, someone has to push you."

Sam's nose wrinkled in disgust. She may like the idea of wheeling around, but she hates feeling weak. Being pushed in a wheelchair, yikes.

"I'll push." Carly said softly. She was the best person to do it. Sam would be even more embarrassed if Spencer or I pushed it.

And we ESCAPED!
