Jennie stood in her master bathroom on Friday night in front of her mirror. Her head was tilted to the side as she slipped on her favorite pair of earrings. She straightened her black, form fitting dress, and smiled at her reflection. Satisfied with her outfit and appearance, she poked her head into her room.

"Are you sure you don't want to come with me? I can probably find a dress in my closet for you to wear?" She said hoping her girlfriend would have a change of heart.

"No, seriously babe, prom isn't my thing." Lisa said as she laid in Jennie's bed. "I'm going to go watch some movies while you're gone."

"Well, I suppose that's fine. I just would hate for you to miss out on anything. It's an awful feeling when you realized you wish you did something when you didn't."

"It's really going to be fine." Lisa stood and walked over to her girlfriend who was stunning. "Besides, Somi is going to be there and she's been acting really weird this past week, more so than usual. I'm just trying to dodge her, just a few more weeks till everything is over and I can move out. Keeping a low profile is more important than just some stupid dance."

Jennie sighed. It wasn't just some stupid dance, it was prom. Prom is one of those moments you'll never forget. Whether its getting drunk with your friends after drinking the spiked punch, or dancing on the dance floor with people you were never friends with. It was not something to miss out on, no matter the circumstances. Jennie knew however, this was different. Lisa didn't want to go because she couldn't be herself and let loose enabling her to have fun. She couldn't take the person she wanted and the entire night Somi would be invasive. Maybe it was for the best.

"Okay." She said. Looking down at her watch, Jennie sighed. "I have to be there for an hour, fortunately we have enough chaperones so we can all come and go at decent hours."

"Well, hurry up and go so you can come home to me. Lisa said as she kissed luscious red lips."

The two stood still for a moment. Lisa ran her hands through dark velvet locks of hair and smiled at her girlfriend. "I love you more than anything, Jennie. You look perfect and I wish I was able to be there with you tonight as your date." She said in a sincere tone.

Jennie melted into Lisa's touch and leaned into her once again for her last kiss. "I love you too, sweetheart. Have fun watching those movies of yours." She smiled warmingly. "I'll be home as soon as I can."

Jennie stepped away from Lisa. Turned the corner from her room and left the apartment.

On the drive to the school, Jennie thought about what would happen next for them. Lisa was about to hear back from Harvard, which wasn't exactly close to their small town here in Maine.

Was it crazy that she thought about moving to Cambridge to be with her? She hated the idea of being separated. She wanted to be in Lisa's life and the mere thought of that not being the case crushed her. Lisa was cherished by Jennie. Letting go of her wasn't an option.

"How long do you have to be here for?" Ms. Nolan asked Ms. Kim.

"I just got here." She looked down at her watch. "I think I only have to stay for another forty-five minutes."

"I really love these dances. They are so much fun. The students really go all out." The chipper blonde said as she grinned ear to ear looking out over the dance floor.

"Well, it's certainly well put together, you were in charge of the planning committee, right?"

"Yes, myself and Archie. He's the psychology teacher. Not sure if you've both met or not?"
