Lisa Manobal pulled her old car into her parking spot below her building. She sighed to herself as she pulled her key from the rusty ignition and opened the door to her bug. She loved her car, mainly because it was the first gift anyone had ever given her, but all good things run their course. She attempted to shut her door that was slightly ajar. In the past few years, it hung funny from the hinges and she always had to put some extra hip into it in order to force it shut.

She put her keys in her pocket and walked over to the south elevator that would take her up to her home.

The metal doors shot open and she pushed the number forty three and waited, knowing she'd stop a few more times before making it up to her floor. The high rise city life was fun until it took forever to get up to your apartment.

One would think, because it was only three in the afternoon, that not too many people would be using the elevators. However, she was wrong. She stood in the back against the wall behind three other tenants.

When the doors finally opened to her floor she turned right and walked to the end of the hall. She used her key fob to unlock the front door. When she turned to drop her keys in the dish on the entryway table, she heard two feet on the hardwood floor.

"Mom!" She turned to a little boy dressed in a red button down shirt and navy corduroy pants.

"Hey buddy. I missed you today." Lisa scooped up the four year old in her arms. "Where's momma?"

"She's in the shower gettin' ready for supper!"

Lisa nuzzled his cute nose and said, "Getting. Not gettin', Sehyun."

The boy played with his hands as he relaxed in his mother's arms and repeated, "Get-ting," with emphasis on the -ing.

She smiled at her son and walked over to the TV, "Can you watch some cartoons while I go join momma?"

"Yes!" He fist pumped. It was rare their son was allowed to watch TV. Jennie firmly believed it stunted his mental growth. Lisa always rolled her eyes at that. Kids were meant to enjoy simple pleasures like watching cartoons. Inevitably, she was the good cop and Jennie, well she was bad cop. She was more stern with Sehyun, she wanted to teach him good habits.

Lisa sat her son down and picked up the remote. Quickly she flipped down to their saved TV episodes that Jennie approved and chose a cartoon.

Lisa turned to the brunette boy and said, "If you don't move a muscle I will make sure you get chocolate cake later."

This was her window of opportunity to have a private moment alone with Sehyun's other mother. She also knew there was going to be chocolate cake, so the kid would easily fall for her antics.

"Cake?" He repeated and smiled. "I'll be good mommy." He said just before his eyes glazed over while he watched his show.

She smiled to herself and sat the remote on the mantle, high and out of reach of a small three foot munchkin.

She rounded the couch where he sat and kissed his forehead."Did momma dress you? You look cute."

As if offended he looked at his mom with a frown, "I dressed myself." He pouted his bottom lip out and crossed his tiny arms.

"Hey, easy kid. I was just asking because you did a good job."

Recently, Sehyun was dressing himself. At first the poor kid wore stripes with zigzags and stars with dinosaurs. It was painful. After several weeks, he finally started matching better. Jennie again was very adamant that they allow him to take his own creative approach to help allow him to be his own person.
