JR sat nervously in his leather armchair inside his airship - the El Indio, the steam from his cup of tea wafting gently in the air. He glanced out the window at the bustling streets of Madrid, the gears and machinery of the city humming in the distance. He had made up his mind - he needed to speak with Hans Ratzel, the father of Marie, about his plan to confront Don Damaso in the Philippines.
Taking a deep breath, JR gathered his courage and boarded his airship bound for Germany. The journey was long and treacherous, but finally, he arrived at the Ratzel estate, greeted by the sound of clinking gears and whirring machines.
Hans Ratzel, a grizzled old man with a twinkle in his eye, welcomed JR into his study. They exchanged pleasantries before JR broached the subject of his mission.
"Hans, I must speak with you about Don Damaso and my plan to confront him in the Philippines," JR said earnestly.
Hans Ratzel's face darkened, his brow furrowing in concern. "JR, das kannst du nicht tun. Zu groß sind die Gefahren, die vor uns liegen," he replied in German, his voice heavy with worry. "Bitte hören Sie sich meine Gründe an. Ich werde sie auf Englisch erklären, damit Sie sie klar verstehen können," Hans continued.
1. "The Casa de la Indulgencia is a fortress, guarded by Don Damaso's most loyal followers. The odds of a successful infiltration are slim."
2. "Don Damaso is a ruthless tyrant, known for his cruelty and cunning. He will stop at nothing to protect his power and authority."
3. "Your twin brother, RJ, works for Don Damaso. He may betray you, leading you into a trap."
JR hung his head, acknowledging the validity of Hans Ratzel's concerns. He knew the risks were high, but his determination to bring justice burned fiercely in his heart.
Nevertheless, Hans Ratzel's words rang true, and JR realized that he needed to heed the warnings of the wise old man before embarking on his perilous journey. With a heavy heart, he thanked Hans for his counsel and bid him farewell, knowing that the path ahead would be fraught with danger and uncertainty.
As he boarded El Indio back to Spain, JR reflected on the weight of his mission and the obstacles that lay in his way. The steampunk world was a treacherous place, but he was determined to face whatever challenges awaited him in his quest for justice. Thanks to Marie - his Fraulein, his hope, his love.
"Wait, JR," Marie shouted, calling his attention before he finally left the hangar. "I need to talk to you."
He stopped the airship's steam engine and went out to meet Marie.
"Oh, Mein Engel," JR was so delighted to see the woman he adored. "I thought I wouldn't be able to see you," he said with teary eyes. They hugged each other until Marie kissed him passionately.
"Please stay for the night, Dr. JR! We need to talk," Marie begged him.
"I'm so sorry, Mein Fraulein, the clock is ticking, and I need to save the world," JR explained.
"Then go," Marie answered with tears on her face. "But always remember that I will be waiting for your return. Save the world for us and our future." And she ran away.
