Y/N's POV

Happy was an understatement.
To say I've never had more fun doing my job in my life would be the honest to God truth. Never in my life had I photographed such an incredible show. From the visuals to the choreography, to Melanie herself...I had an absolute blast.
I cannot wait for the rest of this tour.
Exhausted from my constant movements over the last hour or so, I navigated to the backstage area. My headphones dangled around my neck as I trudged along, completely drenched in sweat. At that moment, nothing sounded better than a cool drink of water and a chance to finally sit down.
Thoughts swirled rampantly through my mind, trying to process everything that's occurred between Melanie and I the last day or so.
The slight hand holding, the touchiness, our private moment in her dressing room. The looks we exchanged during her performance...
What does it all mean?
Friends don't do all of that, right?
Friends don't look at friends that way.
Right?
I breathed out a sigh, finally reaching the backstage area to find the woman that has been occupying all my thoughts recently surrounded by her dancers, all of them applauding each other in celebration.
"You killed it out there, girl!"
"That was such an amazing crowd!"
Cheers of praise could be heard echoing through the chambers and I couldn't help but smile at the sight.
Still clad in her 'Portals' attire, Melanie beamed with joy, her grin stretching from ear to ear. Her pink creature mask hung loosely from her fingers, the key element to her otherworldly appearance. The sight was almost transcendent - she appeared ethereal, as if not quite of this world. Her evident happiness was infectious, causing my heart to somersault with delight.
I let my camera fall to my hip, suspended by its strap, as I reached up to release my tangled hair from its messy bun. My long, wavy locks tumbled out in a disorderly cascade, freed from their restraint.
Fuck that feels good.
"Y/N!"
At the sound of my name, I turned to find Melanie dashing towards me. She flung her tatted arms around me in a fervent embrace, and I reciprocated, holding her close. With affectionate energy, she began to sway us side to side, our bodies rocking together in a tender dance.
"Hey Mel," I said with a wide smile. "You did great out there tonight."
"Hehe you really think so?" She was looking up at me now, grinning ear to ear with rosy cheeks.
"Yeah! You killed it. Honestly the best show I've seen in a long time."
A pout curved Melanie's lips. "Stop it, you're too sweet." She mumbled the last part, nuzzling her face into my chest. I continued to grin like a love-sick teenager, placing my hand on the small of her back.
