Chapter 1: Not the First Time

As you were sitting on the couch at your new apartment, you decided to get up and walk outside of the Mega Building you're living in. You began walking and received a call from David Martinez.

"Hey, David. How's it going?"

David: "Alright. Thanks again for getting me that update. My mom has been working herself into the ground lately."

"I don't mean to scare you, David, but I'm not sure if she can keep going like that."

David: "Same."

"Hey, If I get some string I can pull, I'll see what I can do."

David: "Really?"

"I may have only known you for a few days, but you seem alright."

David: "Thanks."

After hanging up, you went to a food stand and ordered something. You soon heard someone sitting next to yourself and ordering as well.

"Rebecca. Fancy meeting you here."

Rebecca: "I could say the same for you. So, how have you been doing in NC lately?"

"I can tell you that it seems that someone wants something done."

Rebecca: "True that."

After finishing your food, Rebecca seemed to have something to tell you.

"Whatcha need?"

Rebecca: "Wakako needs someone to steal something for a client. Now, I ain't the stealthy type, but you sure look like it."

"Stealing is a special skill of mine."

Rebecca: "Cool. Alright Choom, here's the address and the details. Get it done quietly and she might pay ya extra."

"You want a cut of this?"

Rebecca: "I'm just giving you the details for somethin' I recommended you to. No point in getting a cut for that."

"How about I buy a drink later today?"

Rebecca: "I won't say no to that."

You went to Japantown and arrived at the apartment the address specified. You are to retrieve data regarding a corporate manager's shady activities, so you headed up to the floor and took another route inside since the door is locked.

You managed to enter through a window and avoid the cameras and drones patrolling that apartment. Soon, you found a bedroom and connected to a terminal that contains that manager's activities. You left the area and returned to the ground floor, and afterwards, Wakako congratulated you and sent your fee.

"Hey Zero, I'm at the Afterlife," Rebecca messaged. "Want to buy me a drink?"

"Guess so," you messaged as you headed to the Afterlife.

Entering the spot, you took a look inside the interior and found Rebecca at a booth and went to sit next to her.

"So this is the Afterlife. It's pretty nice."

Rebecca: "Yeah, well, you got in today caused I asked Maine to tell them I was expecting someone with your description. Better work hard if you're getting access to this place. Wakako said you were like a ghost stealing that data."

"Not the first time I did that." Following this, you held up a beer and said "To the Afterlife."

Rebecca: "To the Afterlife."

You both clanged your bottles and drink from them.
