She fought back against the tears that pressed against her eyelids. The pain in her chest seemed to collapse in on her, but she refused to give in. It wasn't like her to get emotional over these sort of things; she was stronger than that.
The pill container sat on the counter staring at her as she gripped at her hair and pulled frustrated with the constant voice in her head. She hated who she had become; who she had always been. It nagged at her begging her to end it. to stop the pain and yelling that ensued inside of her brain. The words uttered 'worthless,' 'ugly', and 'immature'. She stood in front of the mirror as the tears pooled and then spilled down her cheeks.
The battle between her subconscious and conscious raged without falter as she poured the first fist full of pills into her hand. She filled her glass with the vodka she had taken from the refrigerator seconds before her breakdown. She figured if she was going to quiet the demons in her head she would finish this world with a drink. Fair enough, since she was still a year under the legal drinking age. She watched the alcohol filled the cup, sloshing and swirling like the nagging comments in her head.
She popped two pills in, and swallowed a swig. Two more and another gulp. Another two. Another two. She reached for the bottle again and dumped some more into her hand unsure of how many she would need to finish the job.
She popped two more into her mouth and swallowed the last gulp of alcohol from the glass. She sat down on the toilet seat waited. She had counted ten pills having read somewhere that it was sufficient enough to put her in a deep unending slumber.
Taking out her phone she decided to send one more text; she owed them an explanation.
I love you, I'm sorry, don't ask what for, just know that I love you. and I wish you the best in life. You are the greatest of friends and I am truly blessed to have known you.
Pressing the send button she watched the text message fly through cyber space before turning her phone off; expecting her ending minutes to be peaceful.
She waited.
