The glow from the electronic light illuminated her freckled face as she logged onto her social networking sites for the first time since being admitted. It was an old, familiar and exciting feeling as she punched in her password. Within milliseconds her Facebook opened up and people's status updates and pictures flooded her screen. She opened another browser, logging into yet another social networking site, twitter. Going back and forth between the two sites she read through the encouraging notes and words her friends and followers offered. Though few in number, they meant the world to her now mending heart. She opened the last message, confused as to why he was sending her a Facebook message; convinced her life was nonexistent to him.

Dear Scottie,

Hey I know you probably don't remember me from high school because we ran in different crowds. I was sort of that short skinny music guy. Anyway, I heard about you being housed at Timberline and wanted to know I sincerely hope you are doing well. I have been thinking about you lately since I heard the news and couldn't help but send this. I know I am the last person you thought you would hear this from but I promise it's worth it, and I am praying for your quick recovery. I really want to just encourage you through this; you are a beautiful girl and deserve the world.

Your friend from high school, Hunter Hayes

Shocked and confused Scottie read over it again, and again, and again. She vaguely remembered the boy from high school not as a nerdy musician, but rather the cute boy who was so incredibly sweet to her. One memory in particular came to mind from Senior Year.

"Scottie my ginger babe, come hither." Danielle threw her head back laughing as I walked into the classroom.

Scottie flounced over to friend who sat on the desk that was attached to the chair. She laughed as Danielle poked her playfully in the side. Girls and boys gravitated toward Danielle like the planets gravitated toward the sun. Everyone wanted a glance but knew the potential danger of being too near or looking too long at the cheer captain. Danielle's boyfriend, Brockton was team captain of the Lacrosse team, and Scottie's boyfriend was head of the football team making their friendship inevitable.

"Scottie, your ass is looking mighty fine from this angle, but I would rather you move it." Andrew's voice came to her and she turned around and laughed seeing him sitting in the seat by which she stood.

"Andrew, I apologize." Scottie blushed before sitting on the desk across from Danielle, feet falling into place on the seat of the chair.

"Scottie, you shouldn't wear that shirt. It makes you look fat." Danielle pursed her lips , "Or maybe you should look at a gym membership. You know, I actually have, my trainers number. Here it is."

Danielle reached into her bag for a piece of paper and after writing the number down handed the slip to Scottie. Taking the paper, Scottie smiled taking the advice of her friend and tucked it into her pocket. Her insecurities slowly eating away at her mind, but her face conveyed nothing but appreciation for her friend. The teacher walked up in front of her class as the bell chimed the beginning of another excruciating hour of learning. The whole class period Scottie's mind kept going over exactly what Danielle had said, analyzing and critiquing. Her self-esteem was already so low, and being in the same group of friends as Danielle did not help. It wasn't every day, but every night the darker side of Scottie's mind would take over; something in Danielle's words triggered the inner demon in her mind.

Class ended and Scottie's mind still wrapped around the words ricocheting off the sides of her brain. The sun shone bright and the gingers petite hand lifted up to shield her eyes from the glare. A hand on her back shocked her as Cameron spun his girlfriend around and leaned her against the wall of the building. His frame loomed over hers like the empire state building over New York City. He smiled down at her before kissing her on the mouth; uncomfortable and still insecurely analyzing herself Scottie turned her head, unlocking his lips from hers.
