10 years ago......

The weather was sunny as 7 year old Faye-Ann and her bestest friends Elayne and Elijah were playing on the playground during recess. Their families are very close so the three had been inseparable since birth, always going everywhere together and would cry when they had to be separated. However that was all goin to change, they just didn't know it yet.

"Elijah give me back my shoe!" Little Faye shouted angrily as Elayne died in laughter. Elijah had once again stolen Faye's shoe and was running away from her. "Come get it fay fay" he grinned at her.

To anyone who was looking on from the outside it was rather obvious that the two had liked eachother.

They always found ways to tease each other or to gain the others attention whether it be pulling pranks or simply annoying the other.

"Eli give me my sh-" She cut herself off as she rounded the corner seeing Elijah standing with his back towards her as he talked to Kai and his group of friends. Faye didn't like Kai cause he always bullied her and picked on her for no reason and always told her friends to stay away from him. She hid behind the wall and listened as they talked.

"What do you guys want" Elijah spat in annoyance. Kai stepped forward to stand directly infront of him, "Do you like her?"

Elijah was confused by the question, "Like who?" "Don't play dumb! I'm talking about Faye, do you like her?!" Kai said with a hint of jealousy.

"What kind of question is that! Never in a thousand years would I like her, she's like my sister" Elijah responded harshly not know Faye-Ann heard what he had said. "What kind of stupid question is that I could never like anyone like her."

Tears began to fill Faye's eyes as she stood behind the wall. To hear that the first boy she'd ever love didn't even consider her as nothing more than a sister or friend broke her heart. She sprinted pass them while the hot tears cascaded down her face, not even sparing them a glance.

Elijah noticed the girls small frame run past, her shoe still in his hand. He pushed past the people around him to get to her. He didn't know what was wrong, he had to find out. He wanted to protect her from everything.

She engulfed Elayne into a tight hug around her waist, crying in her arms until recess was over.

"Faye darling, why were you crying? And where's your shoe?" Faye looked up at her concerned looking teacher, her eyes welling up with tears again.

"I want to go home." She said above a whisper her tears threatening to spill. "I want my mom.." She said, Elayne started wiping her friends tears, still clueless to what had actually happened, she just knows that her brother did something.

It pained Elijah to see his best friend crying and he had no idea how to comfort her. He asked his sister multiple times what happend to her but she had no clue. Elijah took the sniffling girl in his arms, trying to get an answer out her. His heart ache and pained when she pushed him away and said

"From now on we're no longer friends, my only friend is Elayne. I want nothing to do with you" Elijah's head was racing 'She can't be serious' he thought. He wanted to know what caused her to say that . Wanted to find out what he did wrong. His breathing increased as he heard the words that he didn't think she heard.

"And I'm sure you wouldn't want to be seen with a girl like me." He stopped. He felt his world stop. She is his world. Was his world. He opened and closed his mouth trying to formulate a reply, but he couldn't so the tears just infiltrated his eyes.

Faye-ann just looked at him and simply walked away. This was the day where Elijah Anderson and Faye-Ann Edmund would stop talking. Stop being around each other and where there relationship crumbled.
