Hyunjin thought he was dying. Sure the young man could be dramatic at times, but he literally thought he was dying. He was attached to so many machines too weak to really answer his phone that he was sure was blowing up from his best friends Jisung and Felix. But he hardly spent any time even awake.
When he was awake he felt like death or what he imagined it felt like. His body was on fire, he had a high fever that made him delirious. His entire body felt like his bones were being shattered over and over again and to top it all off he struggled for every breath he took his heart felt weak. He cursed having a weakened immune system.
If he had any strength he'd be fighting the oxygen tube shoved up his nose. But it was more like he had to struggle to remain conscious. Everything went black.
—
Beep beep beep. The sound broke through the brain fog and mind numbing feeling. As eyes burned making them flutter a few times and squint as he adjusted to the blinding white light. Was he dead?! The room was so white and stark clean. Trying to focus more to take in past where he was, finally he could see a cabinet. To his right was the monitor that was tracking his vitals. Then it registered.
Fuck.. I survived. Hyunjin's broken memory started to flood back to mere moments of consciousness. His mysterious illness started like any flu. Just something he'd have to rest and medicate, keep hydrated through. But no it quickly worsened overnight to the point Felix who had stubbornly remained by his side. Instead of returning home. Now he was thankful for it.
Licking his lips drew attention that he was parched. So thirsty, his mouth felt like a desert. His tongue felt like sandpaper across his plush tiers that also felt cracked from lack of moisture. Wasn't he hooked to an iv bag?! Why was he so dehydrated?! He clawed at his throat and face, ripping the tape free to remove the oxygen tube which sounded an alarm. Causing nurses to come in and fuss over him.
One was stern. Reprimanding him for messing with his oxygen. To which he cowered in the bed, a tall thin man that stood 5'10.5" damn near six feet felt small in the hospital bed under her glare. Voice cracked and hurt, feeling hoarse as he uttered an apology as she hooked him back up and brought him water. He wanted to ask what day it was but thought better of it. Besides, it would hurt to talk again. Instead he damn near drained the cup of ice water. Sucking it down, cursing against small sips.
But even halfway through with big gulps me felt full. Damn he hadn't eaten in a while he was sure his stomach shrunk. He sighed and ripped his head against the pillow. Shaky weak hand reached over to check his phone that had been face down. 20% battery and over 200 notifications. Jesus. It's been a week.. a week.
Unsteadily he typed in his pass code and opened the group chat. Trying like hell to catch up on the worried boys. He'd been in the icu and because he hadn't been conscious he couldn't clear them to visit. His heart squeezed so tight and he felt guilty.

Jisungie: Pabo if you die in there I'm gonna revive you and kill you myself. As your best friend I reserve the right!!
Lixxie: Han-ahhhhh what if he's really suffering can you be any nicer. He's sick. Hyunjin-hyung, you just focus on getting better. But please don't leave us, don't leave me. I need my soulmate okay?!

Hyunjinnie: "Guys.. I'm okay!" Was all he could muster to text.
But when it didn't clear all his notifications.. that also started to blow up with relief from the boys. He clicked out and saw the remaining 6 were from the school app.

Chan: "So just gonna ignore me?"
Chan: "Did I say something wrong? I thought our chats were starting to go well. Like we were getting somewhere!"
Chan: "Guess I was wrong and now you're ghosting me. Damn I thought I could trust you!"
Chan: "I hate I miss you and I don't even know who you are."
Chan: "Really?! Really?! Are you seriously ghosting me?! And to think I was getting worried about you!"
Chan: "Don't even bother responding if you see this I'm gonna block you!"
Hyunjin sat there with tears welling up in his eyes that stung. As if they too had dried out. He wanted to cry. They'd been talking almost daily. Learning about one another. Having genuine deep conversations is something Hyunjin has grown to cherish. He almost believed the Prince wasn't an arrogant asshole. But the array of emotions BangChan showed here had him questioning it.
Was he truly blocked?! He didn't even get a chance to respond. And truth be told he missed him too. Didn't Felix tell him his best friend was in the hospital?! Wait Hyunjin you pabo! Christopher has no clue who you are so it wouldn't matter at all. Upset and phone now drained to 13% he muted everything and tossed it aside.
Moments later he scrambled for it. The least he could do was try right?! A glimmer of hope.. anything he was desperate to cling to it.

Anon: I'm so sorry I didn't mean to ignore you. You see, I've been sick. I'm really sick.
Hyunjin fumbled with the phone and attached a photo of the hospital room. But didn't show himself expertly avoiding the mirror.
Anon: *photo attached* See.. I wouldn't ignore the prince.. I missed you too and I hope you get this.. my phones at 9% and I don't have a charger so.. when I get out
Anon: if I do.. I'll text you. I promise.
Hyunjin placed the phone down feeling solom and sank back into the horribly uncomfortable bed. His body ached from laying so long and he felt nauseous, alone and ready to cry but he lacked tears to flow. Getting sick may have just ruined his dream of maybe confessing to the prince who he was.
