this story, is not about mary stuart, however. nor is it to delve into the lives of her ladies. this story is one of a true girl, emilia stuart.
emilia and mary looked nothing like one another. mary looked traditional and classical, her hair was dark and her skin was paled. emilia had paler skin and lighter hair, her naiveness worn on her skin.
the stuarts' lives were being threatened, and mary's marriage proposal was in france. king henry had been kind enough to extend an invitation to the girls and their ladies to stay in england until further notice. emilia believed their was no harm to come to them in the lands of scotland, a place of peace- but nonetheless they packed for france.
mary had drug her younger sister and her ladies from the scottish lands all the way to france, protests from emilia were had- but certainly not heard. emilia wasn't going to miss her mother or the nuns, but she was terrified of the rumors she had heard of french court.
