Chapter 2

I've never considered myself as a wide reader pero dahil sa club na 'to ay mapipilitan pa ata akong magbasa!

Pagkatapos ng dinner ay bumalik ako sa silid at pinagpatuloy ang pagbabasa ng libro. So far, so good. It's not the best, but it's not bad either. I don't have a lot of books to compare with the ones I'm reading. I also noticed that there were some annotations of the previous reader who obviously enjoyed this book.

Malinis ang handwriting kaya madaling basahin. He or she used different colored pens according to their emotions while reading the book. I smirked when they highlighted a passage where the female lead character has finally admitted that she's being infatuated with her classmate.

"Natapos mo na bang basahin ang libro?" Bungad kaagad sa akin ni Tala nang pumasok ako sa classroom.

It is so damn loud! There's a basketball game going on in the gym and I could hear the loud cheers of the students. Hindi ko alam kung paano kami makakapag-concentrate sa book activity mamaya!

I nodded and returned the book to her. She scanned the pages and smiled.

"Pwede kang mag book review bukas. For now, ang naka-schedule ay si..." she glanced at her logbook. "Jazmine."

Tumango lang ako at naupo sa pinakalikuran. We waited for other members of the club to arrive before we start. Seriously, I wasn't expecting this to be a serious club when I decided to join. Kaya ko nga ito pinili dahil mukhang wala namang ganap sa club na ito pero dinaig pa yata ang student council sa dami ng activities nila! Halos mapuno din ang classroom sa dami ng members.

Humalukipkip ako sa desk at bored na nakatingin sa blackboard. Mayamaya ay biglang may humila sa silya na katabi ko. Nag-angat ako ng tingin at nakita si Karlo. He immediately smiled at me.

"Oy, si Rich Kid!"

I squinted my eyes at him and scowled. "It's Nadia... remember?"

He grinned and sat on the desk. Tinuya-tuya pa niya ito kaya umingay ang silya. Pakiramdam ko ay masisira niya ito lalo't malaki ang katawan niya at ang tangkad pa!

"Karlo!" Saway ng president namin sa kaniya.

He raised his hand and grinned widely. "Sorry, sorry. Makiki-seat in muna ako rito. Ginagamit pa ang gym sa basketball, eh."

Napailing ang president namin. Obviously, he's not a member of the club. Dito siya tumatambay tuwing ginagamit ang gym sa basketball? I saw him wearing a volleyball compression band when I first met him so it means... he's a volleyball player?

"Bakit hindi ka maupo dun sa bleachers at manuod sa naglalaro?"

Napatingin si Karlo sa akin. Nginisihan niya ulit ako.

"Narito ang crush ko, eh." Prente niyang wika.

I shook my head and focused my gaze on the front when the president spoke.

"Jazmine will discuss her review about This Time." Tala spoke loudly, trying to overcome the noise coming from the gym.

Tumayo iyong Jazmine at nagpunta sa harapan. She's tall, slim, and soft-looking. May pink headband pa itong suot at sa kutis palang, mukhang hindi pinadadapuan ng lamok. Her eyes were sweet and gentle. And when she spoke, I got entranced by her angelic voice.

"This Time is written by Jesse Wallace. It talks about the single night in Vienna shared by two strangers, revolving about chance encounters, and the impact of serendipity and meaningful connection."

Sinulyapan ko si Karlo sa tabi. He was so intent and focused on listening to Jazmine as she discussed the theme and writing style. Tumaas ang kilay ko. I thought he's a sports guy? How come he's showing so much interest when it comes to books?
