I tried to grab the wheel and gain control but it was impossible. I kept seeing a blur of blue. I was in trouble if I didn't get out soon. But I would have to change in daylight, something I hadn't done in 3 years and had planned not to do it ever again.

I prepared myself to jump out when the car stopped. A Death Walker ran off into the trees, then 30 seconds later out came Josh. I was going to have to pretend that i didn't know anything about wolves.

He rushed over and opened the door. I tried not to flinch.

"Are you alright?" he said checking my head and unclipping my seat belt.

"Yeah, I think so... Wait how did you get here so fast? I left you at school?" I tried to not look supicous which was difficult.

"I am a very fast runner," I saw something flash across his face. "Just wait here a minute, I need to go get something that I left in the forest." He ran off into the forest.
I ignored him and started up my car. I slammed my door and pushed down hard on the accelerator. I needed to get as far away as possible. I needed to get away from trees where they could hide.

I got onto a public road heading god knows where I didn't check, the only thing I checked was that there were no trees. I must've driven for miles when I finally got to a place where I could change. A little tiny cluster of trees the only ones that didn't have a tree path leading to them.

I drove my car across the field opposite so even if they went by in cars, they would not know where I was. I looked around the trees. It was like they were all in a circle. It sounded like they were whispering. When I got to the middle I was confused. There were twelve stones in a circle surrounding a larger darker stone.

I inspected each stone. They were either blue, black, brown or grey. The colours of the three. But why were there brown ones.

There were three types of wolf shifters to my knowledge. The blues, known as Death Walkers to my kind or 'Koraks' to every other wolf shifter. Then there were my kind the 'Mohingans' to us and the blacks. But we were the Night Lurkers to the Death Walkers. Then there is the final of the three. They are bright white. They rule all wolf shifters. They were named 'Sewkin'. But unless we are in their presence we just call them The Whites.

My head started to hurt, it was only then that I noticed I had hit my head when the car went out of control and blood was now dripping out of it. I fell to the ground feeling weaker. My blood dripping on the leaves and pine needles.

The sky turned darker and darker but I didn't care. Maybe if I died then all my worries would end and I could be with my parents.

"Elena! Don't give up," I looked around. I must've been hallucinating. That was my mothers voice. My dead mothers voice. I shook my head and continued focusing on dying.

"Elena, look up," I reluctantly looked up. And there stood what I assumed were ghosts, the ghosts of my parents.

"Mum? Dad?" I shook my head again, climbing so I was upright. "No. This can't be right. It's an illusion caused from me dying." Tears started to flow down my face.

"We're here but as spirits. I'm sorry we couldn't do this before but can only communicate here when a person of our blood bleeds here. You're gash on you're head must've set off the reaction. You have to get to our stone which is across from this one. When you touch it the gash on your head will heal." I didn't move. This couldn't be real. It had to be a trick was all I could think.

For some reason that I couldn't figure out, my body started to move. I walked to the stone and placed my hands on it. I felt the energy flowing through the stone and into me. I felt tingling where my two gashes were. When I put my hand to my face, the gash was gone.

"I miss you, both of you." I sank down at their feet and cried.

"We missed you too. What has brought you here?" My father, a man of few words, said. I thought hard about what had happened and told them everything.

"Now the Death Walkers are in our town. They must know what I am and they are coming after me," It took me half an hour but it was out and it felt good to talk to my parents again, an activity I had not done in two years.

"You need to get away from the town," my mother said. I started to tingle, I was starting to change. "I'm about to change, will our mental link still work," When we lived as a pack, we could talk telepathically when in our wolf forms.

"I don't see why not." I knelt down on my hands and knees and was surprised when I saw my parents do the same. I saw their eyes. This I hadn't seen in two years. Just before we changed, our eyes turned yellow and black. Whenever I changed, I would be alone and I would not be able to see my eyes.

After the change, I thought hard 'Mum? Dad?'

'We're here sweetie. Do you want to go for a run?' I knew the answer. There was a question nagging at me but I wouldn't ask it, at least not now.

We ran. We ran fast, I thought that my parents might have missed running and from the howling they did, I knew that I was correct. I hunted down rabbits but they warned me that they would not be able to eat. We ran for miles and back. When we arrived back at the stones I decided to ask my question. 'How long are you going to be here?'

Her face dropped.'When the sun rises, we will go back to sleep. But next month on the full moon you can awaken us again. I'm sorry sweetie, we love you but those are the rules of the awakening.' I lay down saddened by the fact that I would have to wait a month to see them again. My mum lay down beside me, my father stood tall and proud. I looked above the trees, the sun was about to rise.

'I don't want to loose you again,' To my surprise, my father lay down and looked me in the eyes.

"Elena, you have to be strong and brave and proud. We love you very much and there is something we need to tell you. A secre-" He was cut short as I put my finger up and sniffed. My heckles went up. Someone was there.

'There is someone here, I have to leave. I love you both so much,' I jumped onto all fours and started to run.

'The brown pack. Rememberthat. Headwest. Run!' My father yelled

I heard the growling and snapping as whoever was in the trees jumped after me.
