Curse of Enchanted Haven

Chapter 7

-Enchanted Haven-

Evanya opened her office door at the Town Hall and walked to the receptionist's desk. She stopped, and a young lady with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes looked up.

"Wendy, I'm stepping out of the office for a bit. If I receive any calls, take a message, and I'll call them when I return."

"Yes, Madam Mayor."

The mayor's black heels click-clacked on the tiled floor until she stopped at the door. After she fixed the leg to her black flare dress pants and pulled her purple silk shirt down in the back, she opened the door and walked out to her car. She pressed the button to unlock her silver 2023 Nissan Murano and opened the door. She got in, put on her seatbelt, and pushed the button to start the car. Her phone dinged, signaling she received a text message. She pulled out her light purple iPhone to check who messaged her.

Snow: Did you hear anything from Merlin or Raven?

Evanya: No, they are no longer in Enchanted Haven. They are in the Mystic Kingdom.

Snow: What! Why are they there?

Evanya: He is showing her what happened through unbiased eyes. She's going to find out the truth about us all.

Snow: Do you think she'll have anything to do with us when she returns?

Evanya: You know I cannot foresee the future. I don't dabble in that kind of magic.

Snow: You don't think she'll break the curse, do you?

Evanya: I don't know what to think. Just have faith in her. I have to go. I'm busy.

Snow: Okay, let me know if you find out anything new.

Evanya: Sure.

Evanya tossed her phone into her Michael Kors purse, put the car in reverse, and backed out of the parking lot. She put the car in drive and drove down Main Street toward her house. She looked at the different storefronts to see the people out and about. Fauna was outside watering her flowers and waved to Evanya when the car passed. Evanya smiled and waved to her. Jack lit some of his candles in the window and waved to Evanya. She smiled, pulled over, and put down her window. Jack walked outside and up to the Mayor's car.

"Good morning, Madam Mayor; going on your morning run?"

Evanya smiled and replied, "Yes, Jack, I am. What new scents do you have?"

Jack smiled and said, "Well, I have Forest Rain, Campfire, Pumpkin Spice, Candy Apple, and Apple Cinnamon."

"I'll take one of each. I'll come by after my run to pay for them."

Jack smiled and asked, "You want the big candles or the..."

"You know I always take the big ones. Thank you, Jack!" Evanya waved and drove off.

Granny was posting the breakfast special and waved as the Mayor passed by. Evanya pulled into a parking space and pushed the button for her window to go down.

"Good morning, Gertrude!"

"Good morning, Madam Mayor! Going for your run, I see."

Evanya smiled and said, "Yes, I am. What is your dinner special for this evening?"

"You'll love it! It's grilled lemon pepper salmon with a homemade dill sauce and your choice of two sides."

"Mmmm," Evanya smiled and said, "I'll be stopping by on my way home this evening. That sounds delicious!"
