George always followed Fred. He was always number two to Freds number one. It started at birth when Fred was born 12 minutes earlier than George. Alphabetically his name came after. It was always "Fred and George" but never "George and Fred". This had never bothered George before.

Fred never treated him less than, they always got in even amount of trouble when Molly caught on to their antics, they shared their friends evenly. Then you came along. He watched in awe as you easily caught up with the rest of the group of students in the room of requirement. Surpassed most of them if he's being honest. Gaining the courage to finally talk to you at the end of the meeting, he followed Fred over to introduce themselves. You seemed genuinely interested in what they had to say, you were funny, and he could not ignore how beautiful you were. He felt himself hanging onto every single word you said. That's when he noticed it, how you looked at his brother. You couldn't hide the blush in your cheeks, or the way you leaned ever so closer to Fred every time he spoke to you. Watching you visibly favor his twin was almost enough to make him stop coming to the practice sessions all together.

Having to observe his brother try to impress you, watching you far too closely for his liking was taking a toll on George. As Fred locked eyes with you in the mirror, causing you both to blush; he finally had to say something, leaning close to his brother's ear he remarked "take a picture, I assure you it will last longer. Plus, it won't call you a freak for staring."

He lay in his bed that night staring up at the ceiling, thinking of the ways he could win you over. He could slip you a love potion, or curse his brothers' nose to grow to a ridiculous size, but he couldn't do that to Fred. People had always theorized the twins' brains were connected, and maybe they were right. How could both fall so hard for you so quickly?

"He can have any girl he wants, he does anyways. Why her? Why not me? Whatever she decides, she decides. She must pick for herself. I must be happy either way."

The last day before Christmas break, he wanted to rush over to you before Fred had the chance. Wanted to slip the small gift box from his bag. Filled with the pair of mittens Molly had spent weeks helping him knit. Hoping to get you to look up at him the way you looked at Fred.

Of course, without fail, he was interrupted, Harry coming over to ask for advice regarding Cho. He swallowed his pride as he watched you walk out of the room. Approaching his brothers side, hoping that he had at least extended a Happy Christmas from himself as well, he was hit with another slap to his face.

Fred nodded in your direction "that one over there is more trouble for me than that, I assure you." Turning to George, he noticed the box in his hands. "what do you have there?"

"oh nothing, just something I was helping Neville with. Hey Neville wait up!" Neville towards the twins looking confused. George jogged over to him saying under his breath, "if you take this and look grateful, I will give you anything you want from my case."

Far too loudly he exclaimed "Oh thanks George! Just what I needed!" he winked at him, feeling as if he was able to come across inconspicuous. George shook his head walking away, Neville following. "Hey wait what about-"

Weeks later, it was finally to make their move against Umbridge. Adrenaline on high, throwing fireworks to the open air, George finally started to feel more like himself. As he turned to say something to Fred, an empty air space was all he was met with. Looking down, he spotted Fred flying along side of you, placing a kiss on your cheek. In utter disbelief at what he was seeing, he held onto a firework a moment too long, throwing it just before it exploded in his face. His entire body went numb.

After flying out to the courtyard, heading towards the burrow, Georges head filled with static. He could hear Freds voice muffled coming from beside him.
