"Anything can change in a heartbeat"
Author's POV;
Riri's eyes sparkled with determination as she gazed at Saif. "I understand your concerns, but I want to meet your mother. I want to show her that I'm not just a rich princess, but a person who cares about you and your well-being."
Saif sighed, rubbing his temples. "Farida, please understand-"
But Riri interrupted him, her voice firm but gentle. "No, Saif, you understand me. I'm not afraid of your neighborhood or your mother's disapproval. I want to be a part of your life, fully and completely."
Saif's expression softened, and he looked at Riri with a mix of admiration and frustration. "You're something else, you know that?"
Riri smiled, her heart racing with excitement. "That's what you love about me, right?"
Saif chuckled, shaking his head. "Yeah, that's true."
And with that, he opened the door and stepped out of the car, gesturing for Riri to follow him. "Alright, let's go meet my mother."
Riri's heart skipped a beat as she followed Saif towards his mother's house. She could feel the tension in the air, but she was determined to make a good impression.
As they approached the house, Riri could see a woman watching them from the window, her eyes narrowed in scrutiny. Riri's heart raced faster, but she stood tall, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
Saif's mother, Mrs. Fatima, opened the door, her eyes fixed on Riri with a mix of curiosity and suspicion. "Saif, who is this?" she asked gruffly, her voice firm but wary.
Saif took a deep breath before speaking. "Mother, this is Farida, my...friend." Saif retorted in a somewhat rude manner before giving them a private space
Riri smiled warmly, keeping her hands together for greetings "Ina yini?" She said as she bent down in obedience
Mrs. Fatima's expression softened slightly as she extended her hand to shake Riri's hand, but her eyes still held a hint of skepticism. "Come in," she said finally, stepping aside to let her enter. Riri looked around for Saif but he was nowhere to be found
As they sat down in the living room, Riri couldn't help but notice the modest decor and the worn furniture. It was a far cry from her own luxurious upbringing, but she felt a sense of warmth and comfort in this humble home.
Mrs. Fatima offered them tea, her eyes never leaving Riri's face. "So, Farida, tell me about yourself," she said, her tone neutral.
Riri took a deep breath, launching into a story about her life, her passions, and her dreams. But hesitating to speak about her love for Saif, and her desire to be a part of his life as a part of shyness.
Saif's Mother listened intently, her expression unreadable. But as Riri spoke, she saw a glimmer of understanding in her eyes, a hint of acceptance.
When Riri finished speaking, Saif's Mother nodded thoughtfully. "I see," she said finally. "You're not like the others, are you?"
Riri shook her head, her heart pounding with hope. "No, Mum, I'm not."
Mrs. Fatima's face softened, and she reached out to place a hand on Riri's arm. "Welcome to our family, Farida," she said, her voice warm and gentle.
