After Will gets everything in his bag and in a cabinet that Mike has next to his bed, he goes downstairs looking for Mike. Running down the hall seeing Mike looking through the fridge. "Anything to eat?" Will asked, walking closer to him and also looking in the fridge for anything.

"No, not really. Do you want to walk to the corner store?" Mike says, closing the fridge and looking at Will with starry eyes. "Sure, were you just going to eat junk food?" Will asked, not judging but just asking in a low tone. "Yeah, we have nothing else to eat here until my mom gets off work at 5" the shorter boy said. "Okay, let me get my shoes on, and we can go," Will said. "Okay, me too," Mike said. "Race up the stairs?" Mike asked with a smile planned on his lips.

Will got a jump start by cheating and ran after Mike got done with his words. "Hey, Will, not fair." Mike ran after him, but Will was too quick and already was climbing the stairs. With Mike right behind him sliding through his legs and running to the last step. But when Will ran into him, they both fell to the ground in slow motion. Will pinned Mike down his strong hands on each side of his head. Mike looks at his lips and his arms. And for a second, they stay in this position. But in another second, Will gets off him quickly and runs into Mike's room, claiming the victory. "Suck on that Mike" and motions as if there was a crown on his head.

Mike thumps his head on the floor, closes his eyes, and screams, "I was so close. Ugh," Will laughs. "Not close enough, Wheeler." Will walks over to him and offers a hand. "Come on, get up, don't be a sore loser." Mike grabs his hand, and it feels warm, and he allows Will to help him get lifted. The electricity in his palm still exists on his hand after letting go.

Will goes into Mike's room and sits on the side of the bed to put on his shoes as he feels another warm body next to him. Their elbows hit each other, and their thighs touch, but they don't move, and they both secretly want it to last longer. As they tie their shoes next to each other, Mike does it slowly so that they will be touching even longer.

Will rise from the bed and look at Mike, tying his shoe faster than before. "No, Will, we are not racing down the stairs." Mike raises after looking at him in the eyes and giggling. "How'd you know I was going to ask that?" Will says with a smile looking at him full of love. "Because you love to win, plus, I'm like your best friend." These words should make him happy, but he's not. He feels like a mixture of disguised sadness. Will wants Mike not to be his friend but to be his, forever

"Yeah, well, you're right. I do want to race, but you're boring, and you don't feel like losing again." Will says, looking into his eyes deeply lost in them. "Oh, really, Will." Mike takes off and runs out of the room down the stairs, but Will is right behind him. "God Dammit," Will whispers under his breath, trying to catch up to Mike. "HA," Mike says at the bottom of the stairs after his victory. " I knew it," Mike said with his pointer finger pointed at Will ''Knew what," Will said out of breath "That the only reason that you won the races as kids was because you cheated every time," Mike said he discovered Mars. " Yeah, doesn't take a mad scientist to figure that out, Mike," Will said, walking past him and patting his shoulder.

"When did you get so mean and sassy?" Mike said, holding a hand over his heart. "Probably when you ignored me for a whole summer and when I moved away you stopped contacting me," Will says calmly "Come on Mike," Will says opening the door. Mike was still in shock at his answer. *I'm so stupid* Mike doesn't say anything, only follows after him.

The cool air tickles the back of their necks as they step outside "Okay I haven't been here in a long time, so I hope you know where it is" Will says looking at Mike with hope in his eyes. "Yeah, Mom always makes me go out for smokes, so it's not very far from here," Mike says with a shudder at the temperature of the outside air.

Mike starts to walk down the steps of the house as Will follows him by his side. "So how has it been over here without the great presents of your glorious King William?" Will jokes in a deeper voice. Mike smiles. "Will I know you're joking, but it was pretty awesome without you," Mike says with a serious face. "You're an ass," Will says, slightly pushing him off to the side. Mike giggles at the light presser of Will's touch.
