A week had passed since Sonja and Antoine settled into their new apartment in Singapore. Antoine was slowly adjusting to the new timezone and the routines they were beginning to establish. Mornings were quiet and filled with a sense of tentative peace, a time for both of them to find their footing in this uncharted territory.

One morning, as the soft light of dawn crept through the curtains, Sonja was enjoying a rare moment of solitude when a sudden commotion broke the tranquility. The front door burst open, and her three best friends—Ava, Amelie, and Kayla—stormed in, their expressions a mix of excitement and accusation.

"Sonja! How could you keep this from us?" Ava exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Engaged and you didn't tell us?"

"Yeah," Amelie added, crossing her arms. "We're your best friends. We had to find out from one of your cousins at a party last night!"

Kayla nodded in agreement, her face a picture of betrayal. "We demand answers."

Sonja, taken aback, quickly gathered herself. "How did you even find out where I live?" she asked, trying to buy time.

"We ran into your cousin," Ava said, rolling her eyes. "And now we're here for a tour of this fancy apartment you're hiding in."

Reluctantly, Sonja led them through the apartment, pointing out the high-end finishes and the stunning view of the city skyline. The apartment was indeed impressive, situated just minutes away from the financial and IT district of Singapore City. Her friends oohed and aahed appropriately, but the air was thick with the unasked questions about her engagement.

As they finished the tour, Antoine emerged from his bedroom, his presence arresting. He wore nothing but a pair of sleeping pants, his chest bare and gleaming in the morning light. His well-defined muscles, the result of years of dedication, moved fluidly beneath his tanned skin. His broad shoulders and chiseled abs seemed sculpted from marble, an Adonis stepping out of myth.

Sonja's eyes lingered on him, even though she had seen him like this every morning. Her mind wandered, imagining his touch, the warmth of his skin against hers, the way his strong arms would feel wrapped around her.

Her reverie was shattered by Amelie's voice. "Why is Antoine sleeping in another room?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Antoine's sleepy demeanor shifted to one of slight panic, but he quickly composed himself. "Ah, well," he began, scratching the back of his head as if trying to find the right words. "We've been so busy with the move and everything, we decided it would be best to get settled first before...sharing a room. Just until we get used to everything, you know?"

Sonja nodded vigorously, trying to back up his story. "Yes, exactly. It's just temporary."

Her friends exchanged glances, not entirely convinced but willing to let it slide for now. Sensing the need for a distraction, Sonja turned to Antoine. "Would you mind grabbing breakfast for everyone? There's a great bakery just down the street."

Antoine seized the opportunity to escape the scrutiny. "Of course. I'll be back soon." He threw on a shirt and grabbed his keys, giving Sonja a reassuring smile before heading out the door.

As soon as he left, Ava, Amelie, and Kayla turned their attention back to Sonja. "Alright," Ava said, crossing her arms again. "Spill. We need details about how this all happened."

Sonja took a deep breath, preparing to navigate the complicated web of half-truths and secrets. "It's a long story," she began, hoping to steer the conversation away from dangerous territory. "But first, let's enjoy breakfast."

Her friends, though still curious, allowed themselves to be distracted by the promise of pastries and coffee. As they waited for Antoine to return, Sonja's mind raced with the implications of their questions and the tenuous balance she and Antoine were trying to maintain. The lines between reality and pretense were becoming increasingly blurred, and she couldn't help but wonder how long they could keep up the charade.
