Unusual Morning

Schön woke up abruptly. What a strange dream, he was still jittery. Full of energy. He hadn't felt like this in months. He immediately got up, and sat down at his computer. He had english homework for monday, maybe this energy could be channeled into motivation.

It could not. He closed the document after writing a grand total of three words. Nothing new, never had he been able to do homework before last minute. Although... He still was alert and shaky, almost as if he had coffee. That is, if coffee actually worked on him. He turned off the computer and stood up, which strangely calmed him slightly.

Schön went downstairs. He went upstairs. He then went downstairs twice as fast as before, and looked in the fridge. No reason, he wasn't hungry, just felt like looking in the fridge. Without noticing it, he started fidgeting with his buttons. On his shirt, on his pants, everything was being touched and shaken beyond repair. The hands... Why won't the hands sit still?

Schön contemplated going outside. He decided against it, he couldn't make himself experience vitamin-D. Going outside is for losers. "Morning mom!" He yells, hearing his mother get out of bed as he's walking back up the stairs. He was so aware, so alert. He wouldn't have heard her usually.

Schön pressed the power button. It felt twice as slow as before. Why must his PC be so frustratingly senile? You'd think it was from the 40s. The 40s... Right, the second world war happened. I wonder what conditions the German army was under at the time? Were they commiting their atrocities willingly, or were they forced? Probably a mix, right. What's the ratio then? How many actually liked the work they did? Were any jews or prisoners secretly shown mercy because some soldiers weren't on-board?

The screen lit up. Schön had completely forgotten it existed. He sat down at the desk. He felt relieved, for some reason, as if a pain he didn't know he was experiencing had subsided. And then we started shaking even more. He could barely reach the right buttons on the keyboard. He decided against using the computer for anything serious, and just watching some videos instead.

Schön knew what he was missing. He didn't have any snacks. He stood up, and suddenly he felt what had been so subtle before. A sharp pain in his chest. Eh, it'll probably pass. He exited his room with slight difficulty, and made his way towards the stairs. The pain was getting worse now. He could barely see, he could barely concentrate on walking, what was happening to him?

The last thing he saw was the sharp edge of a stairstep hurdling towards his face. Then, everything went dark.
