Weeks pass, the pack and the Cullens working together to face the growing threat of the newborn army. The alliance is tense, but effective. Training sessions have become part of daily life, with the wolves honing their instincts and the vampires strategizing their attacks. During one of the training sessions, Emmett approaches you, a casual smile on his face, blissfully unaware of the pain he causes you with his every glance

Emmett gives you a comforting smile, relieved to see that you're okay. He releases your shoulder and takes a step back, not wanting to linger too long and make things uncomfortable.

"I'm fine" they managed to hold a cough down

"Good," he says, his tone light. "We'll get through this together." He clenches his fists, a determined spark in his eyes, unaware that, in another world, he would have been your anchor, your rock in the storm

They slightly smiled back

Emmett's eyes flicker with warmth as he sees your small smile. He closes the distance between you guys and rests a hand on your shoulder, a friendly gesture of camaraderie. The touch sends a jolt through your body, your heart skipping a beat with the mixed emotions within you.

They were trying not to cry

As Emmett's attention shifts back to the training session, you feel a mix of emotions crashing over you. The tears well up in your eyes, but you fiercely blink them back, not wanting to reveal the pain you hold inside. You take a deep breath, trying to focus on the task at hand and push aside the torment of unrequitted love. Despite the ache in your chest, you nod at Emmett, vowing to remain strong and keep your feelings hidden, knowing that revealing them would only make everything worse

You force yourself to push past the pain, to bury your feelings deep within. You try to focus on the drills, working alongside Emmett and the rest of the group, hoping that the physical exertion will provide a temporary escape from your tormented thoughts.  The battle looms on the horizon, and the air is thick with tension, but your heart yearns for something far more complicated

The pack stands amidst the carnage, their clothes torn and stained with blood, their bodies battered and bruised from the fierce battle they fought. Carlisle stands beside Emmett, who is wrapped in bandages, his wounds slowly healing. Everyone looks exhausted, the intensity of the fight leaving them all spent, but a sense of victory lingers in the air

Your gaze moves towards Emmett, your unrequitted love for him still burning strong, even though he doesn't feel the same way.
