Clive held out a hand.

"Come with me, Nathan Vagrant!"

I held his hand and stood up shakily in my bed, and jumped out of my window and into his arms.

"Oof!" He laughed, and still literally holding me, he ran, quickly, before bringing me away.

We watched the smoke go out of the bottom floor and to the first floor, and kids were brought out. The physician was telling someone to go for Rottings. Clive bent down outside my window and pull on a leather satchel bag.

From the glimpse it looked like maybe bread or some food inside. When he ran, though, it also sounded of coins. All the coins from our murders. Clive ran the opposite direction of the students and professors, me still in his arms.

"You know," he said, heaving as he ran, "they'll assume I ran away with you. Maybe even kidnapped you!"

He ran away from the academy and I laughed, "That sounds perfectly romantic."

"Good riddance, Graycotts!" Clive laughed, and he was panting as he carried me and we made our way away. We were close to town but I didn't know his destination.

I looked at the academy grew smaller and then turned to look at Clive, so close I saw freckles I used to not see as well until now. Maybe it was because he hadn't seen the sunlight in days and looked so pale now.

I'm sorry, Clive. I couldn't do anything for you.

As he made his way away from town but to to left I wondered if he made a mistake. I held on to his neck as he ran faster and faster, gasping heavily.

"Where are we going now?" I whispered. "You can't carry me, let me down."

"I can!"

"But you need a break!" I argued.

Clive looked at me and gently let me down. We stood side by side and quiet. Clive looked forward towards the front and seemed to keep in tears.

"I know, I'm stupid. I have no plans," he whispered.

I smiled, hand tight over his.

"I always knew you would have no plans. It's fine, you are enough. Let's see how far we can go with the both of us, without a plan." I laughed. "It's nice to think of nothing sometimes!"

"Really?"

"Yes, I haven't smelled the outside air in so long, or had so many choices. We can do anything we want if we don't have a plan, right?" I grinned.

"I feel so free!" Clive laughing into the air then turned to the skies. "I'm a vagrant, a wanderer, free from the awful chains tying me down! I'm free!"

"I'm free, too. I'm no Rottings son, and I'm not a knight. I'm just Nathan," I laughed, our fingers now intertwining like back in the days.

It was such a beautiful sky, away from the small burning fire we were pretty much free. People wouldn't recognize us, we could just live lives as a whole new person. Together.

His hand trembled and he flipped his hand so he could hold on to mine tightly.

"I killed people, I was an obedient dog, but now I guess I'm just that kid from the dry lands in a foreign country again," Clive murmured.

"Are you scared to take this step with me?" I asked, not telling his his grip hurt my hand.

"Yes, I suppose. But we are going to be something, I can feel it!" He grinned in the way he always did when he wanted you to be charmed and forget that he's human. I never forget, even when I'm speechless at his smile.
