8: Finally

JOOEUN POV

Two weeks have passed since I started pretend dating Sunghoon. There were still many stares and whispers, but not as much as before. Sunghoon and I are still a little awkward when we're alone with each other, but we are slowy getting used to each other's presence, I think.

I giggle at myself, excited for the 'new comfortable life' that may come in the near future. "I can't wait to become a normal person again." I chuckle, rolling around on my bed excitedly.

SUNGHOON POV

"Jooeun.." I sigh, sinking down into my chair. I'm genuinely happy for her, happy that the rumors and whispers have decreased significantly. Of course, there's still a long way to go before rumors completely disappear. But I'm already afraid of the future. What if Jooeun stops pretend dating me? What if I confess, but she doesn't return the same feelings? What if us stopping to pretend date is the last we'll ever see each other for (A/N: I mean, Mrs. Park will probably invite Jooeun over, but I guess it'll be awkward?)?

I sigh again, not wanting this pretend dating to end. This was my idea, but I didn't know I'd end up falling for the girl I bullied. I grab my phone and call a friend.

"Hey Sunghoon what's up?"

*sigh*

"Hello? Hoon? You okay?"

"Yeah yeah. I'm just.. I don't know what to do."

"Uh.. telling me that you don't know what do to with no context is not helping, idiot."

"I think I like Jooeun. Like, for real."

*silence* "Huh? I mean, not gonna lie, but it was pretty obvious."

"Really?"

"Mm-hmm. I swear, I couldn't tell if you were acting or not sometimes. But I guess this smart Jake doesn't know anything!"

"I never thought I would be scared to end this pretend dating thing. I'm scared of the day when she ends this. What if we never go back to before we started pretend dating?"

"Dude. Honestly, I don't know what she's thinking, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I wouldn't wanna like someone who's bullied me for so many years." Jake scoffs.

I groan. One-sided love is hard.

"How about you at least try to confess your feelings before it's too late? You never know. She might feel the same for you?"

I sit up abruptly. Jake's right. You never know until you try.

I quickly mumble a "thanks bro" and end the call.

JOOEUN POV

*TIME SKIP*

The past few weeks have passed with no trouble. No one has been whispering behind my back, and the staring has stopped as well. I finally felt like a normal person. I don't care if people still believe the rumors, as long as they don't spread false rumors. I'm so glad that people stopped staring and whispering things about me. 'I should thank Sunghoon for being such a big help.. I wonder what he likes?' I think, thinking of different types of gifts that Sunghoon might like.

I grab my phone, vigorously typing a message.

'It's me. I think we can stop with the pretend dating, since most of the rumors are gone and no one whispers behind my back anymore. I'd like to meet up one last time, if it's okay with you? – Jooeun'
