As I mentioned before, Catherine Emerson and her dog Baltogo belong to my friend PrincessCat2002, so all rights with these characters go to her.

The family had finally made their way up to the cabin house where they would be living with their grandfather. Michael, got off from his bike and looked around. Sam was the first one to get out of the car, after their mother, followed by Julie and then Catherine.

"Come on, Nanook," Sam said to his Alaskan Malamute. Nanook barked, and then got out. Then Bonnie and Baltogo got out as well.

Everywhere they looked there were carvings or dead animals. Julie and Catherine knew that their grandpa was into taxidermy, mostly for as a hobby, but seeing so many dead animals made Julie feel sad and made Catherine want to cry, because the youngest Emerson especially loved animals. They then saw someone lying down on the porch. When they slowly made their way to the porch, they saw it was Grandpa lying on the ground.

Lucy walked over and knelt down next to him. "Dad? Dad?"

"Looks like he's dead," Michael said.

"No, he's just a deep sleeper." Their mom placed her hand on Grandpa's chest and the other one on his head.

"If he's dead, can we go back to Phoenix?" Sam asked.

Julie kicked her brother in the leg as a response and Sam let out an "oww."

Lucy sent Sam her warning look, but also one to Julie.

Their grandpa sat up. "Playing dead," he replied, "And from what I heard, doing a damn good job of it too." He then began laughing.

"Dad. Oh, Dad," Mom said, as they hugged. Sam, Michael, Julie and Catherine all just looked at each other.

"Mommy, when is Daddy coming?" Catherine asked innocently.

"Cathy, don't you remember what Mom said? She and Daddy got a divorce," Julie reminds her.

Catherine gives a look of confusion. "I don't understand," she said cocking her head a little.

"It means he and Mom aren't together anymore," Michael explains.

"Yeah and I wouldn't count on seeing dad ever again Catherine," Sam said to his youngest sister, He walked out on us and it's all your fault, because after Julie was born, Dad decided that he didn't want anymore kids. When he found out that mom was pregnant with you he bolted. So it is your fault that mom and dad split up and he left us. You ruined our family and to be honest, it would have been better if you'd never been born," Sam sneers.

Catherine immediately begins to cry after hearing her brother's scorn for her which made Julie angry as she took out her etch-a-sketch again and started hitting Sam as hard as she could for telling Catherine such mean-spirited things.

Michael wrapped his arms around Catherine and held her close. "Shhh. Don't listen to him. He's just mad about the divorce and he's behaving like a spoiled brat by taking his anger out on you."

Then the four kids walked inside carrying some stuff, and took a look around the house as they headed for the kitchen.

"This is a pretty cool place," Michael said.

"Yeah, for the Texas Chain Saw Massacre," Sam said.

"Come on Sam, give Mom a break," Michael told him.

"What's wrong with this picture?" Sam asked. He sat some stuff down. "There's no TV. Have you seen a TV? I haven't seen a TV Mike." He then set Nanook's dog bowl and something else, that he had on his head, down. "You know what it means when there's no TV? No MTV."
