Few days later, the tension between Siya and Advik hadn't eased as they found themselves still unprepared for their project. When the teacher asked about their progress, everyone else shared their plans, even Aliya and Vishal had gathered some information for their project. However, when it came to Siya and Advik, they had nothing to present.
Teacher: Siya, Advik, what about your project? Have you made any progress?
Siya: Um, well...
Advik: We... haven't really started yet.
The teacher's expression turned stern, disappointment evident in her eyes.
Teacher: I see. I didn't expect this behavior from either of you. It's not acceptable to neglect your responsibilities like this. You have until tomorrow to come up with something substantial. This project is important, and I won't tolerate any more excuses.
Siya and Advik exchanged uneasy glances, feeling the weight of the teacher's disappointment.
Siya: We'll get it done, ma'am. You can count on us.
Teacher: I hope so, Siya. Advik, I hope to see improvement from both of you tomorrow.
Later, during lunchtime, Siya and Advik found themselves sitting at the same table, reluctantly discussing their project.
Siya: Okay, so we need to figure out where to start. Any ideas?
Advik: Not really. We should probably visit a village and gather some firsthand information.
Siya: That sounds reasonable. But which village should we go to?
Advik: I know a few nearby. We can decide later.
After school, Siya, Advik, Aliya, and Vishal decided to meet up to discuss their project. Siya insisted on having her friends there for moral support.
Advik: (mocking) Aw, look at little Siya, can't go anywhere without her friends tagging along.
Siya: (defiantly) Fine, let's meet at 3 pm then, just you and me.
Advik raised an eyebrow, surprised by Siya's sudden challenge. "Alright, we'll see who's the little kitten then."
Siya shot him a determined look. "We'll see indeed."
Their confrontation with the teacher had only added fuel to the fire of their mutual animosity, but perhaps it was exactly what they needed to push past their differences and work together effectively.
As Siya reached home, her mind was still swirling with frustration over the project and her ongoing feud with Advik. She found her mother in the kitchen and decided to confide in her.
Siya: Mom, you won't believe what happened today at school. Advik and I got scolded by the teacher for not doing anything for our project.
Siya's Mother: Oh no, what happened?
Siya: We're paired up for this stupid social project, and we haven't even started. The teacher gave us until tomorrow to come up with something.
Siya's Mother: That's not good, Siya. You need to take your studies seriously. Have you talked to your father about it?
Siya: No, not yet. I'll call him now.
Siya dialed her father's number and explained the situation, seeking permission to go out later to work on the project. After getting his approval, she sighed with relief.
Siya: Thanks, Dad. I'll make sure to finish the project on time.
After having snacks and taking a moment to relax, Siya geared up and hopped on her bicycle, making her way to the location Advik had mentioned.
As she approached the meeting spot, she spotted Advik waiting there, leaning against his bike.
Siya: (rolling her eyes) Took you long enough.
Advik: (smirking) What, little Siya couldn't handle waiting a few minutes?
Siya: (huffing) Don't start with me, Advik. Let's just get this over with.
Advik: (raising an eyebrow) Oh, someone's in a hurry. Alright, let's go.
They began to ride their bikes together, Siya leading the way towards the village they had decided to visit for their project.
Siya: So, which village are we going to?
Advik: I was thinking we could check out the one near the outskirts. It's supposed to have some interesting cultural practices.
Siya: (nodding) Sounds good. Let's head there then.
As Siya and Advik entered the village, they immediately got to work, Siya approaching women while Advik went to speak with men. They clicked pictures, gathered information, and tried to understand the village life as much as they could.
Siya: (engaging in conversation with a woman) Excuse me, aunty, could you tell me about your daily routine here in the village?
Advik: (talking to a villager) Sir, what are some of the challenges you face living in this area?
As they moved around, they noticed some villagers looking at them strangely, perhaps not used to outsiders visiting their village for such purposes.
Villager: (to Siya and Advik) Beta, you two are looking like good friends.
Siya and Advik both burst into laughter at the unexpected comment.
Siya: (between laughs) Friends? No way.
Advik: (chuckling) Yeah, not in this lifetime.
Old Woman: (smiling) Oh, don't be shy. It's nice to see young people like you working together.
Siya exchanged a knowing glance with Advik before replying to the old woman, her tone slightly mocking.
Siya: (smirking at Advik) Oh, we're not friends. He's just my... partner in crime for this project.
Advik: (playfully rolling his eyes) Yeah, something like that.
After collecting enough information, they made their way back to the main road where their bicycles were parked.
Siya: Well, that was... interesting.
Advik: Yeah, we got some good stuff. Now we just need to put it together into something coherent.
Siya: (nodding) Agreed. Let's head back and start working on it.
