You're going to get hurt. There is no denying that.
You're going to thrust yourself into situations that
don't work out the way you dreamed, that cannot
sustain the gravity of what you feel, and you're going
to get hurt.But this is what your fear won't tell you-
You're going to survive it. You're going to heal from the
wound. The hurt doesn't last forever, though I promise
you the "what ifs" will. If you don't take the chance, if
you don't risk everything you have-you will always be
an ocean of questions. You will always wonder.And trust me-life is too short for loose ends, for feelings
that were never acted upon, gestures that were
never taken. Get on the plane, send that person an I'm
sorry, tell them you love them, drive all night to see
someone in the morning. I don't care if it makes you
vulnerable, if it exposes you. Expose yourself. Open
the hell up. Let life fill you with hurt, with happiness;
let it weather you, let it teach you. Let it inspire you,
let it break you down and build you up. You are here
to risk your heart. Please don't ever forget that.
