—–––– SAGE –––––I stood at the grand white entrance, as excitement filled me as I admired its beauty. The sturdy oak door seemed inviting, but I felt hesitated.
Although anticipation bubbled me at the thought of seeing my old friends, yet, doubts still nagged me—
“Sage!” I jolted back when I heard a familiar voice called my name. I looked back and there stood Ali, my best friend from high school, and until now actually.
“Ali!” I greet, “Did you just arrive?” I also asked her.
She shook her head for a "No".
After exchanging a few words with her, Ali and I found ourselves comfortable and entered the place together.
Memories were brought back by the vibrant flowers that covered the place. We caught up with our former classmates, remembering the good ol' times, while laughing at our jokes.
While laughing, my eyes suddenly meet Uno’s. His eyes are still the same almond-shaped, rich shade of brown, still warm and inviting.
We momentarily smiled at each other, but I quickly averted my gaze, since I felt something.
A rush of emotions I couldn't even quite decipher.
As the night goes by, I decided to go outside to get some fresh air.
Right after I stepped outside, I felt the cool breeze against my skin. It sent shivers down my spine, but I just shrugged it off. At least there was a fresh air, right?
I was zoning out when I heard the door creak open and recognized a familiar voice.
"Hey," He said.
I turned around and saw Uno.
"Hey," I replied back, smiling.
"How's life?" he asked. "I heard you're in med school now. Congrats!"
"Thanks," I grinned, while looking at the distance. "I heard you're in law school too. Congratulations!" I looked back at him, still smiling.
As I gazed at him I couldn’t but to remember the days when the two of us were still so happy
We were inseparable…
FLASHBACKS
'How could my day be bad when I'm with you?'
The music started and the crowd gets wild.
'You're the only one who makes me laugh.'
His voice wraps around me like a warm embrace, soothing away any worries or fears.
'So how can my day be bad? It's a day for you.'
As our eyes met, my world stopped and everyone around us disappeared. I couldn't take my eyes off him, as if his eyes had a magnet. Why is my heart beating so fast? This can't be; we're just friends.
I've liked him for so long but I don't want to ruin our friendship. I'm afraid that if I tell him how I feel, everything might change and be ruined.
"Sage!" I was surprised to see him in front of me. I was so caught up in the moment that I didn't even realize that the music already ended. "Are you okay? It seems like you were mesmerized by how handsome I looked, huh?" he said, teasing me.
"I was just thinking why so many people like you even though you look like a hotdog," I teased back at him. He's really handsome though.
"Oh really? Too bad, I was about to treat you to a corndog, but I changed my mind," he said with a smirk.
