Kai, Age Twenty Five

My Calliope kept an indifferent behavior towards me since breakfast. She didn't say anything even when I demanded she pack her things and let me drive us both back to my apartment. She looked annoyed and ready to explode on me though.

She gave me the silent treatment even when we went out for lunch. She remained quiet even when some paparazzi took pictures of us. She looked bored like she just wanted to get things over with and I'm fucking dying to know what she's thinking.

"You're staying in my room," saad ko nang makabalik kami sa apartment ko.

Nagkibit-balikat lang siya. "Whatever," may bahid ng inis na sagot niya at agad na tinalikuran ako at pumasok ng banyo.

I sighed and gritted my teeth in frustration when my phone rang. Naglakad ako papunta sa balcony area at lumabas bago sinirado ang glass door. I clicked to answer and put the phone on my ear.

"What the fuck am I seeing in the news, Malachi?!" Galit na bungad niya.

"Hi, Dad. I'm okay, thanks for asking," walang emosyong sagot ko.

"Don't fuck with me. What is that girl doing there with you?"

That girl is the love of my fucking life, old man!

I wanted so badly to yell at him. I can blame my father for the wasted years Calliope and I were apart but this whole debacle was still very much entirely my fault. Fuck.

Isa pa, mag-aalas kwatro palang ng hapon dito. Ga'non ba kabilis ang balita? The paparazzi worked fast.

"What else, father? She's where she always belonged. With me," matigas ang boses na sagot ko.

"Did you forget our deal, Malachi? If so, I'll be happy to remind you-"

"I didn't fucking forget," galit na rin ang boses ko. I sighed and fisted my hair. My father knew of the nature of my relationship with Calliope since we were young. Hell, he even used to like her for me. I allowed myself to be vulnerable. "I can't let her go, Dad. I can no longer stay away from her."

I knew this the moment I saw her walk in the club, looking for me. Even in disguise, my chest burned at the sight of her. I realized I could no longer be apart from her.

He chuckled darkly on the phone. "You selfish idiot. You're only going to hurt her more when she learns the truth. You should have stayed away, Malachi. Stay the hell away before it's too late."

He's right. Fuck him for being right.

But I can't do it anymore. It was an absolute hell staying away, trying to ignore her all these years. It was hell to not follow her around and chase her. It was hell knowing she might move on from me anytime. I will not be able to survive another day without her. I've suffered enough. My Calliope suffered enough.

"I tried. I fucking tried, okay?" I grit out in frustration. "I want out of the deal, Dad. Keep my fucking name off that godforsaken deal."

There. I said it. I've been dying to say it for years now.

My heart pounds as silence enveloped both of us.I can hear him thinking. I can picture out his angry face but I can't bring myself to care.

"You can't just back out, Malachi," he spits out. "It has been agreed upon and-"

"Well, good fucking luck, father because I'm out," pinal na saad ko bago pinatay ang tawag.

I leaned my hands on the railing and breathed.

Fuck! I never should have signed that disgusting piece of paper in the first place.

My father will lose his shit but he'll get over it. He will have to get over it.
