BOYS. BOYS EVERYWHERE. LIKE Chloe could turn around and there stood a boy, asking some stupid question about girls.

The first day was chaos, especially after meeting everyone. Cole seemed like an asshole, but he was definitely hot. Danny, his twin, seems untrusting in some sorts. Nathan seemed chill and Alex was an angel sent from God himself. Isaac and Lee, the cousins, seemed okay. Isaac and her got along more. And Jordan, Parker, and Benny were okay. There was one older kid, Will, she hadn't had the chance to meet because he moved out.

Chloe sighed as she looked around her room which was piled with boxes. She had so much to unpack.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Come in," she said.

The door opened and in walked the asshole, Cole. But Chloe couldn't help but turn to face him. He was hot, even she couldn't ignore it. "Need something?" she said.

"Just wanted to say hey," Cole responded, a sly smirk on his face.

"I met you earlier, you already said hey."

Cole chuckled. "You're stubborn."

Chloe crossed her arms across her chest. "I know it."

"I just wanna get on your good side, that's all."

Chloe was confused. "My good side?"

Cole nodded. "Why don't I help?" He gestured to the piles of boxes. Despite wanting to say no, Chloe agreed just because she knew she needed the extra pair of helping hands.

Cole began to help her unpack, listening to where she wanted things as she also unpacked boxes.

"So, what makes you want to get on my good side?" Chloe asked.

"You're pretty," he said bluntly.

"And you expect me to what? Fall head over heels for you because you helped me unpack my things?" she said with a scoff.

"Maybe," he teased with a chuckle. "No but really, I just want us to be friends."

"Uh huh," she mumbled. "Said no guy ever."

Cole laughed, and she couldn't help but find his smile adorable and she could feel her own smile forming.

Later on that day, around seven pm., all of the kids were called downstairs for dinner. There was a long table as George was nearby preparing plates of spaghetti as all the kids piled into seats. There were two empty seats, one beside Cole and one at the very end of the table.

Chloe decided on the seat beside Cole, both wanting to sit at the end where everyone could easily stare at her. Even if she did like attention, there were just too many boys in one setting for her to enjoy it. Plus, she knew she would get plenty of attention from guys at her new high school tomorrow.

"Thank you for the dinner, Katherine," Chloe said to her with a smile.

"Of course, dear. Gosh, I wish my other children were this grateful," she said with a laugh.

"Thanks, mom," Cole said with a sarcastic smile, getting a playful scoff from Katherine.

Chloe noticed Jackie reaching for something under the table, and she got curious. "Is something wrong, Jackie?" she asked.

"Something is just on my—" she picked up something that resembled a snake and she screamed, standing up as she threw it to the side and hit the plate that George was in the middle of setting down for her, causing it to get all over her sweater. She gasped and Katherine scoffed.

"Seriously, boys?!" Katherine yelled.

Jackie was on her way upstairs and a part of Chloe felt bad for her. "Excuse me," Chloe said, running behind Jackie up the stairs.

In Jackie's room, she was already changed into a new t-shirt as she was wiping the spaghetti off of her sweater and her body.

"Jackie, you alright?" Chloe asked, seeing her upset face as she slowly approached her.

Jackie sighed. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's just hard, you know? I mean, the boys seem to like you, why not
me?"

Chloe slowly shrugged. "It's mean, I'm sorry."

There was clear shock on Jackie's face from Chloe apologizing, even Chloe was shocked.

She let out a sigh. "It isn't just that though, right? I'm sure we both feel the same way."

"Boy's everywhere?" Jackie laughed as Chloe nodded.

The two ended up spending most of the night talking and apologizing for things in middle school. The fighting, the bullying. They both felt like idiots for it all and they realized how much the two actually had in common. Maybe it wasn't much, but it was something. They seemed to somewhat be becoming friends again.

Eventually, they said their goodbyes as Chloe headed back to her room and got changed into some pjs. She was laying in her bed on her phone, texting an old friend from her hometown when she got a knock at her door. "Come in."

Cole opened the door, a tray in his hand. He slowly walked in, placing the tray in her bed side table. "Sorry about dinner."

"Shouldn't you apologize to Jackie?" Chloe said as she sat up, glancing at the spaghetti then back to Cole. Why was he in my room and not hers?

"Alex is with Jackie, you know, doing the same. I didn't expect dinner to go like that, especially on y'alls first night."

Chloe let out a frustrated sigh as she shrugged. "Maybe you should get your brothers in line and teach them some manners."

Cole chuckled. "I know, but they don't care."

"Then make them care," she said with a scoff.

She was already annoyed by the conversation. These boys needed to get into check and learn how to act around new people, especially considering what both Jackie and Chloe went through.

There was one thing she knew for sure though, and that was that these boys needed to be controlled.
