During lunch, I finally gathered the courage to ask Aarav about that girl. "Aarav, since we're good friends now, can I ask you something?"

He looked up from his plate, a small smile playing on his lips. "You don't need to ask permission, Shef. Go on."

"Um, who was that girl?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly.

Aarav's expression shifted as he glanced out the window, deep in thought. "Oh, her..."

I immediately regretted bringing it up, feeling like I'd made him uncomfortable.

"She was my first love," he said, turning to look me in the eyes.

I swallowed hard, my throat dry. The silence between us felt deafening.

"She betrayed me," Aarav continued, looking down at his plate. "I thought we could be happy together, but she broke my trust, and I fell into depression."

Unsure of how to respond, I instinctively reached out and held his hand on the table. He seemed surprised by my gesture but didn't pull away. Our eyes locked, and I felt a deep connection with him.

Just then, my phone rang. It was Veer. Before I could react, Aarav tightened his grip on my hand, his eyes still holding mine.

"Aarav..." I started, unsure of what to do.

He sighed, releasing my hand gently. "It's okay, Shef. Answer it."

Reluctantly, I picked up the call. "Hello, Veer."

"Hey... Can we talk a bit?" Veer's voice sounded urgent.

I glanced at Aarav, who was watching me intently. "Can it wait, Veer? I'm in the middle of something."

There was a pause on the other end. "Alright, talk to you later," Veer said, sounding disappointed.

As I hung up, Aarav gave me a reassuring smile. "Thank you for listening, Shef. It means a lot."

I squeezed his hand once more. "Anytime, Aarav. I'm here for you."

The rest of lunch was spent in comfortable silence, the bond between us growing stronger with each passing moment.

Aarav paid the bill like a gentleman. They sat inside the car and drove back to the office. Upon arrival, Aarav headed to his cabin while Shefali made her way to Veer's.

Entering Veer's cabin, Shefali felt a cold aura. She looked at Veer, who was sitting on the sofa.

"Hey, Shef," he said, standing up and moving towards her. They stood face to face when Veer gently took her hand and placed it on his chest. Shefali was shocked by his actions and looked into his eyes.

"Shefali, will you be my girlfriend?" Veer asked, his voice filled with emotion.

Shefali's eyes widened, and she didn't reply. "Please take your time if you need it, but I hope it's a yes," he continued, his voice softer now.
